Kristen this mornings hearing essentially started the process of figuring out if owen labrie had ineffective counsel during his trial and if he did, a new trial date would be set. Labrie could be seen walking into court this morning accompanied by his parents and his new defense attorney robin melone of nashua. Labrie was found guilty in 2015 of misdemeanor sex assault. His victim was a then15yearold girl. Labrie was sentenced to one year in jail. He was released on bail pending his appeal. A few months later, the state filed a motion to revoke bail based on allegations that he had violated his curfew. Labrie served two months in jail and is now back home with is family in vermont with a monitoring bracelet. At todays hearing, both the state and labries defense attorney discussed dates for a wellestablished process for litigating ineffective claims that starts with statements from the trial team. Those come to the attorneys for the state. We look at those and see what we need to do. We have a hearing scheduled in february where the matter will be litigated. Around 3 30 this morning, a pelham officer tried to pull over a white sedan that was speeding on route 38 in the breakdown lane. Police say the car was swerving and accelerating to speeds of over 80 miles per hour. After the chase entered the town of windham, the driver eventually crashed at the intersection of mammoth road and castle hill. 22yearold justin seoum was taken into custody. He is charged with aggravated dwi, disobeying a Police Police in dover need help in idenitfying a robbery suspect. Police say it happened at the mister mikes gas station on portland avenue last night at around 10 30. This man threated clerks before running off with cash. And right now millions of americans are on alert and mandatory evacuations have been ordered in parts of florida.
