President obama began by expressing his sincerest condolences for the victims of the attacks in paris, noting the brotherhood that the United States and france have had, especially following the 9 11 attacks well have more details on their comments, coming up sabrina we have new details about the double homicide in East Des Moines from sunday night. Sabrina the shooting happened on hull avenue. The victims, 42 yearold amy fraaken and her 16 year old daughter, amber, were found dead in their home. The suspect is barney fraaken. Hes in a local hospital recovering from selfinflicted wounds. According to recent facebook posts, amy and barney married in 2012 but had been having relationship issues. Yesterday, the neighborhood was quiet, as the shock of what had happened took over. It aws so close were not used to that, this neighborhood, you just wouldnt expect it. It was really scary for all of us yes sabrina police say fraanken is expected to survive. When he gets out of the hospital, police say he will likely face first degree murder charges. Sabrina also on monday. Police are still investigating an Early Morning car crash that killed one person and left another in the hospital. It happened near the intersection of 35th street and ingersoll in des moines yesterday morning. Heres that mangled car. But local 5 asked the governor what he can do with his authority to stop refugees from coming in to iowa since individual states do not have the Legal Authority to block refugee placement. Refugee resettlement happens through three different agencies in iowa who work with the federal government. Not the state.
