This time and i heard a gunshot go off. Reporter she says she could hear the gunshot was fired in her backyard. State Police Arrived moments later to find the 50yearold victim had been shot to death. As investigators started searching the area they found the home of 61yearold gary mauer less than a block away with the lights on and the front door opened. Inside they found mauers lifeless body on the living room floor. They quickly determined he died of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Now the only known link between mauer and zimmerman is that zimmerman was a family friend helping mauer sort out some personal and Financial Issues involving his mother who died about two weeks ago. And since the only two people who know the full story are dead, police say they may never know for sure the motive behind this murdersuicide. Unless somebody that knows something we dont know yet, something we didnt talk to comes forward and tells us the rest of the story, we dont really know. Reporter now, to be clear kmauer lived here in this home, zimmerman lived with her husband in nearby mohrsville r police say gary mauer had a few duis in his past but apart from that nothing violent. Today comey went on the record for the first time about russias alleged involvement in the 2016 elections and president trumps wiretapping claims. Comey said the fbi is, whoing into links between russia and trumps campaign. As for the wiretapping allegations, comey said they may be unfounded. With respect to the president s tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, i have no information that supports those tweets. Philadelphia police are trying to track down thieves who pulled off an elaborate heist in the citys lawncrest section. Officials say a Million Dollars in merchandise was taken from the kim thanh Jewelry Store on whitaker avenue a the thieves used a ladder to get on the roof under the cover of darkness and then broke in from there. Ropes were found near a hole on top of the building. These look like professional thieves. Absolutely professional the way they did the roof, go the in, climbed in, extricated through the wall and they did it probably pretty quick, too. This is the second time in two months this particular store has been hit. Officials say the thieves triggered a security alert overnight when they broke in but the owner thought it was a false alarm. It will stay relatively warm and this week we have some wild swings in temperatures. Its going to be very cold on wednesday with wind chills in the 20s. Could hit 70 on saturday. Members of the Womens National hockey team are in philadelphia today to demand better compensation. It is a wage dispute between the players and top hockey officials that could lead to a u. S. The players are here in negotiations because their attorneys are based here. The championship to be played in michigan at the end of the month. The players vow they will not be there unless there are some big changes in their compensation. The existing Womens National Ice Hockey Team has won six World Championships since 2000 and medals in the 2010 and 2014 olympics. But unless a deal can be hashed out in a meeting room at the Ballard Spahr law firm here in center city its 23 players say they will boycott this years championship series. At issue, pay. The players say u. S. A. Hockey pays only 1,000 per month per player for six months during olympic years. They claim other times they get virtually nothing. U. S. A. Hockey counters it has prepared a package for next years olympics that include stipends and incentives for medals that could result in each player receiving 85,000 in cash. The players say they are seeking a yearly living wage something above 60,000 plus childcare and other benefits. I think its really interesting because its part of the stage that we see across the world on many levels in terms of women and equity. Reporter Laurie Armstrong is a labor attorney. Shes not involved in these talks but has followed similar sports negotiations. With the championships just days away, she believes the players have their best leverage now. Theres a Fine Associated with a country not putting a team in. I think the womens players view that as you pay us or you can pay the fines. Doesnt it make more sense to pay us. I also think theres an embarrassment factor. U. S. Womens ice hockey does not field talented well performing team. Theyre the host team. Reporter that last line in reference to u. S. A. Crews are working around the clock to upgrade the ez pass direction planes in both directions. Looking from drone6 operated by our own action news photographers by the way. Well, i think it will definitely slow things down. Reporter the ez pass express lanes that separate the blue route from the northeast extension in Plymouth Meeting will be closed for three weeks. And commuters are expecting delays. Its so much easier just to fly through with the ez pass. It definitely accelerates the process of being able to throw through it quickly so i would imagine theres going a backup. Reporter crews maneuvered into position early this morning at the midcounty interchange. Pennsylvania turnpike Officials Say the which issues are necessary so crews can safely upgrade the overhead toll equipment for open road tolling northbound and southbound lanes are affected. When i leave the house in the morning im always expecting something thats going to delay me getting to work on time so iits an inconvenience but its i wouldnt say its an unforeseen inconvenience. Reporter this three week closure is phase one of the midcounty interchange repair project. Phase two and three will include repairs to concrete pavement on 476 and the ramps leading to the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound and westbound. The entire project is that scheduled to be complete september of next year. Theyre still able to use the traditional ez pass lanes over the three week closure.
