Hes presiding over immigrant week aimed at celebrating the thousands of immigrant owned businesses in philadelphia. The mayor says it looks to him like the sessions move today is time to distract the public from the various investigation of white house connections to russia and other trump troubles. Obviously the thumping that they took on healthcare brings them back to an area where its uncomfortable being divisive and being bullies about. Thats their city. One of the participants at the business meeting today says claims that undocumented immigrants increase the crime rate are false. We know everybody talking about how much young immigrants making and then what we are also hearing from our local officials in philadelphia that sanctuary cities doesnt necessarily mean protecting criminals for instance. When presented with a criminal warrant we will turn anybody over but were not going to hold people against their will without charge. That is the Fourth Amendment of the United States constitution and i hope attorney general sessions would understand what the fifth amendment means. Today, though, stuck at 60 degrees which is actually 3 degrees above normal but saturday reached a high of 77, kind of the ups and downs of late march. Yesterdays high only 45 degrees with the clouds and the rain. Today 60 degrees, slightly above normal but you can see areas to the south a lot warmer than philadelphia. Washington, d. C. , 73, philadelphia that warm front is right over us but what this will do is lift through as we head through the evening hours and double scan live showing then weve got a cold front that will be moving through tomorrow. Now, this has been causing some Severe Weather, severe thunderstorm watches posted for parts of the tennessee valley, the deep south, the ohio valley. This system will be marching to the east and it will bring us the threat of some storms, probably nothing really widespread severe since well see a lot of clouds and that will kind of stabilize the atmosphere so looking ahead very unsettled weather tomorrow. An 18yearold girl is accused of planning to kill her classmates at a high school in maryland. Police say they found a shotgun and bomb making materials at thes home in thurmond Frederick County. Abcs Stephanie Ramos has more on the potentially deadly plot stopped in its tracks. Reporter Authorities Say this teen may have had some mental issues. They say it doesnt seem as though she was going after a specific group at school but instead planning a very detailed attack to cause absolute destruction. A teenaged girls plan to bomb and shoot students at her Frederick County Maryland High School has been stopped by sheriffs deputies. The involved student was 18yearold nicole sevario. She was immediately removed from the School Without incident. Reporter authorities tipped off by her own parents. As soon as the father found out he informed School Officials who in turn informed us. Reporter after a search of 18yearold nicole sevarios home Authorities Say they found an arsenal of materials. They were illegal purchases shotgun ammunition, fireworks, the hardware, the pieces of pipe, to construct the bombs everything she did was within the law. Reporter sheriffs deputies found pipes with end caps shrapnel fireworks magnesium tape and fuse material. Authorities say none of it had been combined to actually make a bomb but the intent was there. Nicole posed a threat not only to the school, the student body but herself also. Reporter her journal was also discovered with details about the schools emergency procedures and a time line of how she would go about the attack on classmates. The fact that a young woman could carry out an attack much like columbine or sandy hook. Reporter like other past School Shooters she planned to die on the day of the attack. There is no doubt in our minds that we averted a disaster up there. I never seen anything like this. Reporter Authorities Say she seemed to have been actingas released from the hospital where she was taken for a mental evaluation shell be arrested and charged. In new york, Stephanie Ramos channel6 action news. Members of black lives matter called for Philadelphia District attorney Seth Williams to resign. They protested at his office saying williams cant be effective in his job after being arrested on federal bribery and extortion charges. Williams has been pleaded not guilty. A spokesperson for the d. A. s Office Released a statement saying in part this indictment is against one individual not an office full of dedicated career prosecutors and professional support staff. Philadelphia mayor jim kenney and local fop leaders have also called on williams to resign. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to join a white house effort to fight opioid abuse. Christie has dedicated his final year in the Governors Office to curbing heroin and Prescription Drug addiction in the guard state. His role on the federal task force will be announced later this week. Today in trenton, the governor signed a new law aimed at boosting new jerseys economy. The measure is expected to create jobs through transportation projects. It provides 260 million for the states roads and bridges. Plus another 140 million for technology and safety improvements on new jersey transit. And you saw those travel times. I mean, only about 20 minutes so not too bad. Now, the roosevelt boulevard you are seeing a slowdown here on the southbound side approaching 76 and then northbound if youre heading up and over those twin bridges to head into northeast philadelphia youre delayed from 76 all the way out through to broad street. It happened last night as a tech come is a Police Officer pulled over a suspect. Officials say someone in the vehicle started running away leading to a pursuit. Thats when the suspect opened fire on the officer who shot back. The officer identified as 22yearold Justin Turner died after being hospitalized overnight. The suspect was also hospitalized. One person is dead five others wounded following a shooting spree in florida. Police say the gunman killed his girlfriend during an argument this morning in sanford. He then shot his girlfriends young sons and their grandfather. Finally he walked to a nearby street and shot two innocent bystanders including a High School Student awaiting for the bus. Police arrested the gunman at the scene. Dozens of people had to flee a burning Apartment Building in oakland california. Most residents were able to get out but one person was killed and four others were hurt. The fire sparked in a housing unit for people recovering from addiction prison and homelessness. Its only about 5 miles away from the oakland warehouse plays blaze that killed three dozen people back in december.
