Action News Reporter bob brooks working the story joins us now live with more on the possible contamination at a shell station in levittown. Bob. Reporter sharrie, imagine filling your car up with some gas, you get a few blocks and all of a sudden it starts to actor act up and this shell station here at the intersection now under investigation. This is the shell gas station at hood boulevard and new falls road. Residents are concerned about possible contamination found in their gas tanks. Reporter specifically its the regular and mid grade gas thats being tested here. Those pumps will remain closed until a test is completed. Three complaints have come in from customers saying. They think that theres some kind of contamination of diesel and regular gas has been mixed somehow. Some of the residents that have complained to us tell us that their car is running extremely sluggish or not at all. Reporter we asked how could this happen . How could diesel fuel wind up in a regular fuel pumps. There could be some kind of mixup in the delivery possibly or some kind of underground Delivery System problem. Reporter now until the tests do come back the diesel gas has been mixed with the regular. We spoke with a mechanic who says its going to be expensive to get your vehicle fixed. Off the top of my head it has to be thousands. Reporter thats what the mechanic terry hough. Ive been here 39 years. Reporter hes been fixing cars a long time. He says this can causes damage to all kinds of parts of the car. The pump and the filter and especially if the injectors get plugged. Who knows. It depends on the car. Reporter we did speak with one customer who says for her the gas here has been fine. You got your gas twice here this week. Yeah. Reporter okay. And no problems. I havent had any problems. Reporter no problems for her. Officials say the owners of this shell station are cooperating with them while they conduct this investigation. Philadelphia police are investigating a deadly crash tonight. A woman in her 50s lost control of her vehicle and slammed into a tree. It happened just before 8 oclock this morning here on the 1300 block of East Washington lane in east mount airy. The victim has not been identified. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are looking for at least two suspects for what may be a string of business and residential burglaries in philadelphia and Delaware County t both suspects are believed to be asian men. A Security Camera shows them robbing a home in marple. Police say the same suspects are recorded robbing the homeowners store on woodland after in philadelphia. Police say they may be working with a group that has been targeting Small Businesses in Delaware County for nearly three weeks. Well, just one day after it was made public, the senate gops healthcare proposal is already facing an uphill battle. The bill is not only drawing criticism from democrats but also from some republicans who are demanding changes to it. The gop cant afford to lose more than two senate votes from within the party but at least five conservatives now say theyre opposed to it in its current form. President trump is willing to work with those critics according to the white house. The president is very supportive of the bill. He wants to work with all the members to improve it in any way that needs that can help facilitate that passage and make it a stronger bill. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell says he wants to push the bill through his chamber next week. Well, there are some differences between the house bill and the senate bill but overall, many people are concerned if the Affordable Care act is repealed, the replacement could leave millions of americans without coverage. People arent out here because its like super fun to be out here in the spitting rain protesting for hours and hours. Like people are here because its actually literally life or death. The bill would abolish the mandate that most americans must have Health Insurance. They could buy insurance with tax credits based on income but some could pay more for less. It also rolls back the expansion of medicaid. It keeps protection for people with preexisting conditions but states can opt out of covering some basic services such as wellness visits. Make another excision. And it gives sizable tax cuts to the wealthy. Jerry furrow says the winners will be the wealthy. The poor disabled and middle class will be hit the hardest t adults 50 to 65 who dont get Health Insurance from their employer willlikely face higher premiums. Overall he says society could go backwards. Youre going to have a higher level of sickness, higher levels of costs that have to be absorbed, more disability. Its not being treated. And a higher mortality rate. Still President Trump says its a work in progress. Little negotiation but its going to be great. Not to repeal and replace but to fix those aspects of the Affordable Care act that need resolution. Now, democrats are all opposed to the bill. Officials in Delaware County have launched a new program to help get rid of dangerous drugs and theyre taking their efforts on the road. The county unveiled its new mobile drug collection unit today outside of the courthouse in media. This specialized van coming up along with this mobile drug drop box in the van will be seen at various Community Events to encourage residents to dispose of any unwanted or expired medication. District attorney jack whelan says its one isnt that combating the citys opioid crisis. A new law signed by President Donald Trump aims to protect military veterans. Its designed make it easier to Fire Department of veteran Affairs Employees accused of wrongdoing. Trump says the law is one of the biggest reforms in the va in decades but federal employee unions oppose the measure. I would really think about using ridge pike or 724, not the westbound side of 422. On the big picture have a disabled vehicle just being cleared to the shoulder on the schuylkill eastbound by montgomery so extra slow coming in from the boulevard. Of course its jam packed heading towards the walt whitman bridge if youre trying get down the shore this afternoon. Meanwhile its been a mess of an afternoon in delaware. Huge delays along 95 northbound because of an earlier accident near newport by 141. Those jams spill the whole way back to newark, just 9 miles an hour. If you can i would still think about using route two kirkwood highway instead of 95 northbound. Southbound side also busy through wilmington. Its been a grueling week for the District Attorney as federal prosecutors continue building their Corruption Case against him. 29 counts of bribery and fraud. The testimony of a key government witness wrapped up today. Bucks county businessman muhammad ali who has already pleaded guilty to bribing williams was grilled by williams lawyer thomas berk. To testimony, no deal ali admitted on the stand. Ali testified he lavished the District Attorney with gifts because he wanted to get close to someone in power to be able to call if he needed to t on the stand today ali said williams out of friendship before ali ever gave him any freebies like a caribbean vacation and 7,000 in cash when williams was in a jam the result of his divorce. Williams denies any criminal behavior. On monday Deputy Police commissioner joe sullivan will testify about williams arranging a meeting with ali so the jordanian born multimillionaire could air his believe he was the subject of and religious profiling when he forty one International Trips back in 2012. In other news doctors say the knife used to stab an officer at the airport in flint, michigan was just millimeters away from severing his major arteries. The medical staff treating lieutenant jeff nevels gave an update on his condition today. They say he suffered a cut approximately 12inches long around his neck. But tonight hes making progress and could soon be released from the hospital. He was stabbed on wednesday at the Bishop International airport in flint. A 49yearold canadian citizen originally from tunisia is charged in the attack. The congressman shot at a congressional baseball practice last week in alexandria virginia has been moved out of a hospital icu. Representative Steve Scalise will remain hospitalized but his condition has been upgraded. Four others were wounded in the shooting last week. The attacker was killed by police.
