New Jersey State Police report that five people were shot, one killed and the gunfire that apparently can be traced to the garden state parkway. A person was found shot in a vehicle on the parkway northbound not far from here. Investigators are combing through both crime scenes. This has startled residents react to go what they are seeing. A four alarm fire destroyed an old church in philadelphias overbrook section. The flames ripped through the Century Old Church this morning here on the 6400 block of lansdowne avenue. Reporter well, rick, it was an exhausting day for firefighters and an emotional one for parishioners. I want to step out of the way and give you a live look at whats going on right now. You can see right through this church all of the windows busted out and then there was a fire hose running just now. Firefighters say flames moved quickly throughout the church but they had no choice to evacuated and simply contain the flames. Parishioners and residents watch in shock and some cried as this 100 year old gang thick style church a staple in the community became he engulfed in flames with smoke that darkened plow skies. It was bad. It was blazing. Shooting out all sides of them windows. Reporter the blaze broke out about 9 oclock at Good Shepherd off of lansdowne road. Two people were inside including richard clem who was showering on the third floor. Both got out safely. I couldnt breathe. I was crawling down the hallway. You know, i didnt think i was going to make it out for a second but thank god for these guys. They took me down a ladder and got me out. Reporter 120 firefighters responded to the four alarm fire. This incredible video from an action news viewer shows what they were up against. Deputy commissioner Robert Corrigan says way fast moving fire and homes nearby a new strategy was needed. At that point we knew that everybody was out of the building and our primary focus was to protect the houses behind the church. Taking a live look at the beach in Atlantic City where many are opting to stay out of the ocean tonight. Tropical systems churning in the atlantic are causing bigger waves and that increased risk for rip currents. We have trouble not only in the atlantic but also in the gulf of mexico. We have tropical depression number nine, number eight off of the carolinas and hurricane gaston just to the east of bermuda. Were going to focus our attention for the next several days on the two systems in the atlantic. Over the next three days both of these systems are going to curve away from the u. S. Coastline so were not looking at landfall from gaston or if tropical depression number eight which is expected to be a Tropical Storm shortly. Winds right now 35 miles an hour. That system gaston 105 miles an hour. That not making landfall but sending large waves against the u. S. Coastline here with both systems so storm tracker6 live double scan not own dollar we look at the satellite and radar but we look at the wave heights underneath gaston right near the center 30foot swells but as they propagate towards the shore line of course they weaken. Seeing about three to 5foot swells along our coastline and tropical depression number eight also adding to those swells so that is the concern as we go through the rest of this week and even into the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. All that water that piles up along the shore, what piles up must pull back out and thats what creates some of these rip currents. If you are ever to be caught in a rip current you let it take you out and you want to fight it but dont fight it let it take you out because it eventually will ease and then you can escape to the left or to the right and ride the waves in but the biggest thing you want to do only swim where the beaches are guarded of course. What we want to know is there there are a lot of questions regarding this case chief among them when did Seth Williams know about his girlfriends involvement and two, why did it take zonk so long for her to be charged. Sources say initially the District Attorneys Office handled the investigation into the vandalized vehicles. Seth williams sea security detail needed an incident report in order for the city to repay the 850 repairs needed. Sources say the d. A. Office filed a report 12 days after the alleged crime but still retained control of the investigation. That investigation stalled until august 10th, 9 months after the alleged crime when the attorney for Seth Williams girlfriend Stacy Cummings went to the d. A. s office claiming to have information about the crime. The case was referred to the Delaware County d. A. Office and two weeks later Court Documents reveal cummings confessed to detectives in the southwest Detective Division of philadelphia police. The Detective Division that should have handled the case from the beginning since the alleged crime happened in overbrook. Cummings did not go into detail about motive. Police say 31yearold brian james was trapped inside his car after an suv slammed into him on pennsylvania avenue and broom streets last sunday. Police say charges are pending against the driver of the suv who ran away from the scene. Police in Delaware County are looking for three men who robbed a pharmacy at gunpoint this morning.
