Lets go outside to meteorologist adam joseph see if we can stream it along a little longer. Hey, adam. Maybe a few hours but then changes coming in tonight. Feeling the humidity, thats increasing and so is the chance of showers. As we look at storm tracker6 live double scan, you can see some rounds of rain skirting northern Lancaster Berks as well as Lehigh County heading up into the poconos. That is one round of rain along interstate 78. But as we widen out you can see there are more in the way of downpours and thunderstorms scattered anywhere from the ohio Tennessee Valley i was points to the east along a cold front and that is moving in our direction. So well be tracking these for the next 24 hours. But for this evening, again, most areas dry for the first couple hours between 7 oclock, 8 oclock with temperatures in the upper 70s. It is humid with downpours and scattered thunderstorms will be developing later this evening. So you may want to bring an umbrella just in case you get hit by one of them. Turning to major trade for the Philadelphia Eagles sending a fan favorite packing. Starting wide receiver Jordan Matthews is now heading to the buffalo bills. Jaime apody joins us now with the details and to explain what the birds are getting in return. Jamie. Reporter brian, its no secret the eagles needed a starting cornerback for awhile and to get one we had to give away something that another team would actually want. Somebody decent Jordan Matthews fit the bill. Darby has a ton of upside young only a year out of florida state. His rookie season he was named defensive rookie of the year by one publication. The birds give up matthews and a third round pick in next years draft. Jordan has been the eagles top receiver in the past two season but his role would have decreased this year. Hes entering the final year of his contract. What the team will probably miss the most is jordan was a class act and a locker room leader. Youre feeling like youre celebrating and doing a dance because youre getting a good pick. In this league youre not able to get something unless you give up something. The hardest part was talking to jordan about out. Thats hard thing to do. It never gets any easier in this business because however good he is as a player hes a better person but we got to do what we think is in the best interests of this Team Moving Forward and thats why i made the trade. More on the trade including the social media reaction from matthews teammates who are sad to see him go. I was pretty surprised when i heard about this. Yeah. But they had to give up somebody. Nelson aguilar wasnt going to work. We regain you to this team back from maternity leave. How about that. Love it. Great to have you back. Thrilled to be back. Time right now for a check of the action news traffic report. Gina gannon in for matt pelman in the action news traffic center. How we looking out there gina. Definitely a friday and the roads are showing. That looks like a lot of people are leaving town maybe taking advantage of the last weeks of summer while we can. Showing you on the big picture its a lot of red especially on the schuylkill expressway. Look at that westbound delay right at city avenue. 9 Miles Per Hour so definitely going to be slow on the schuylkill. I would say right now tur biggest delay is on the schuylkill expressway so plan ahead for that on 95 we have our typical slowdowns northbound from penns landing towards allegheny. Slow on the southbound side. The vine is crowded as well as that will blue route. Expecting a blue route delay and southbound from route 30 to 95. A fire location in parkside. Parkside avenue is closed between belmont avenue and girard. All lanes are blocked there. Maybe the vine is clearing up just a bit only on the westbound side. Good to go maybe a slight tapping approaching 76. That eastbound side is jammed the entire length 76 through 95 so give yourself extra time and the when we have jams on the vine it always affects us on the schuylkill expressway. Thats why we have this big eastbound delay on the schuylkill. About 33 minutes if youre traveling between the blue route to the vine. 30 westbound. Westbound things might be getting a little better here at the vine but approaching 76 theyre heavy. Monica and brian ill send it back over. Thank you gina. Well, theres an incredible emotional and historical reunion happening right now on the other side of the globe. This is u. S. Marine marvin strom bow at 93 years old hes traveling roughly 10,000 miles from Portland Oregon to a tiny village in japan. His mission, to return Something Special to the family of a japanese soldier once deemed the enemy. Something he has been saving and preserving for more than seven decades. Looked down and there was the body of a japanese soldier. Y. Reporter it was 19544 marvin strap bow was behind enemy lines. Japanese feet. Reporter the young u. S. Marine says in the pocket of that japanese soldier the enemy, he saw something white, a japanese flag. I knew it was sacred, special but then i realized that if i didnt, somebody else would and it might be lost forever. Reporter that flag made entirely of silk was covered with elegant calligraphy. I reached over and took it and i made a promise that i would return it. Reporter 73 years later, hes making good on that promise, carefully packing the flag hed been saving and protecting. I just need your autograph right over here so that your passport is value limit the oregon based obon society was able to identify the flags owner from the signatures relatives and neighbors etched onto the silk. We knew it would be important and emotional to the family in japan. What we really didnt have an any idea was how that important it was for the americans british or australian whos have them. Reporter he says he knows this moment will be a healing one for both families. Maybe a grandnephew or something. Reporter or perhaps fate decades in the making. Like he wanted me to find him. These flags are considered a good luck charm for japanese soldiers. Those have been returned have made for powerful moment because most families there never received remains. Hes landing in tokyo today where he will then make that trek to that tiny little tea village for a moment of healing and peace with the past on both sides. Extraordinary story. An incredible journey emotionally and otherwise for that man and that flag. Alicia, thanks for sharing that with us. Thank you. A time for the accuweather forecast. The weekend is right at our heels and meteorologist adam joseph has good news and bad news. Well get the bad news over with first and the second half we can salvage on sunday. A live look right now, some folks enjoying the zapped in cape may here. A pretty decent day down there with hazy sunshine, the humidity coming up a little bit and trying to kick a little bit of a sea breeze off the shore as well so a very nice way to round out the week in spots. As we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan right now there you can see a batch of showers especially to the north and west. It is skirting areas of berks county as well as Lehigh County right along 78 between bethel hamburg lifting north of 309 west of allentown, moving to the north and west from the south and west but well continue to see these popping up across the region as we go through the evening overnight hours and again during the day tomorrow. But as we take a look at temperatures around the area were in the 80s inland, 83 philadelphia right now, 82 degrees in trenton, 80 in wilmington, 82 in millville and dover right now coming in at 79 degrees. Satellite and radar you can see that spin off to the north there in the central part of the great lakes. Its associated with a cold front with that low pressure working into the ohio valley so that its pulling up some humidity, some clouds and again, downpours and thunderstorms beginning to pop here and there. So, were going to expect that going into the evening hours tonight at 11 oclock some more up in the lehigh valley. Some could even start to sneak in the i95 corridor so if youre heading to the phillies game by the end of it there could be a shower that tries to develop. Something well continue to monitor and then some heavy rain early in the Morning Saturday 3 a. M. Could get woken up by heavy downpours or thunderstorms at the shore. 10 oclock clouds and scattered showers and that continues saturday tomorrow 7 30 p. M. With a line trying to come in from the north and west. Very unsettled to begin the weekend. We started talking about the total Solar Eclipse that the entire United States is going to see. Well receive 80 percent coverage but we have that bright white line near portland. That is the path of totality and if you take a look at climatology this time of year and when you try to look at a clear sky for the eclipse, the best Case Scenario typically in the western u. S.
