WPVI Action News At 530 AM July 5, 2017

Back to work for a lot of us. We worked yesterday. It wasnt that bad. Lets take a look at satellite and this is the Weather Center and you can see that theres a little bit of cloud cover out there and we do have a bit of a precipitation maker down in delaware. Those little blips of green that you see down to the south and ill go ahead and bring in storm tracker6 live double scan for that closer view. This is mostly now north of dover and just to the south of smyrna. There was a heavier cell highlighted in yellow that is beginning to fall off the map now so there you see it. Actually thats some red there, too, sort of a heavier downpour. One thing ill say about these is even though theyre not producing heavy downpours right now theyre moving very slowly so if you get this caught on top of you its going to stick around. I expect most of that action to get out of here probably after about 9, 10 oclock this morning. 71 degrees currently in philadelphia, 72 in wilmington. 70 up in allentown, 69 in trenton, 68 in beach haven and 72 currently down in cape may and as we roll through the day, by 7 oclock youre at 73. By noon 83 and then partly sunny skies this afternoon at 3 oclock and a high of 86 degrees before falling to 85 by 5 oclock and by 7 oclock, down to 73. Want to quickly show you dewpoints, too. You can see that these have really dropped in the i95 corridor. Numbers in the upper 50s and low 60s not all that humid but down along the ocean front and up along the delaware bay higher dewpoint numbers indicate higher humidity in those spots. Matt pelman weve got some rain on the way. Thunderstorm activity coming back thursday into friday. Thats coming up. Good morning david, good morning, everybody so with that whole back to work back to reality thing going on today for a lot of you it means coming back from the shore points. So, this morning we are expecting extra traffic right here along the northbound side of the garden state parkway as well as the westbound side of the ac suppress way and the northbound side of 42, dont be surprised if youre commute is a little slower than normal in those areas. Meanwhile we already have some issues on 295. This is a southbound accident in Burlington County involving this truck thats up against the median guardrail. You can see left lanes blocked here southbound by marne highway approaching 38 but youre getting by on those right lanes without too much of a problem. Just keep it in mind. Now, farther south in bellmawr its a broken down vehicle thats taking out the left lane by the black horse pike. Theres also a disabled vehicle on the and northbound side approaching 42. Thats in the right lane so three issues already on 295. But across the river vine street expressway is open and clear this morning. It will close tonight but for now its good. At the bottom of the screen is the ben franklin parkway. The action cam has a different view of the parkway right by eakins oval where the festivities took place last night and the cleanup crews did a great job during the overnight hours. You can see everythings opened. Terry gilmore operating the action cam says no more restrictions. Disabled vehicle on the westbound schuylkill in University City but traffic can get by with no delay. Matt. Thank you, matt. We are following breaking news. Three people were shot in chester Delaware County which led to a destructive car wreck the next town over. That is where we start in eddystone with action News Reporter katherine scott. Shes live with exclusive Surveillance Video of the crash. Katherine. Reporter matt, thats right, this started with a triple shooting in chester. It ended here in eddystone with a crash. The driver was one of the three people shot. He lost control of his vehicle and hit parked cars here. They towed the vehicles about 45 minutes ago. The road is back opened. The crime scene tape is down. But lets start with Surveillance Video of that crash. Late last night at ninth and eddystone you can see headlights, then the collision, debris flying into the air. Were hearing five cars were damaged in the crash, including the drivers. But this all began around 11 30 last night in chester. Three people were shot on the 1100 block of brown street. The circumstances surrounding that shooting remain under investigation but we heard the driver of the vehicle was shot as well as one passenger. A third person was shot who was outside of that suv. After the driver was shot, he managed to drive to ninth and eddystone in eddystone, which is a little more than a half a mile away. Thats when the driver lost control of his suv and crashed into parked vehicles. The vehicles went everywhere. One of them went up on the sidewalk and hit other ones. Police were on the scene gathering evidence. You can see investigators examining the bullet holes in the side of that suv. Neighbors say they were asleep. They heard the crash and they came running. All of a sudden i heard a boom, boom, boom and i just jumped up saying, no, no. I ran outside and i seen it was both my cars, my neighbors car and another car down at the red light and then the guy who did who hit everybody. The driver was shot numerous times and the passenger right across the street and passed out in the street. Police officer summoned Emergency Medical Services and transported the two victims over to crozer keystone. Reporter and again, three people were shot in all, two of them were in that vehicle. Were still waiting to hear the conditions of all three people, how theyre doing now. And as we take a live look here at the scene you can see theres still some debris left over but still some cleanup left to do. Were live in eddystone katherine scott, channel6 action news. Youve been singing that all day. We were calling for possible showers so not a surprise that they got hit a little bit down there but overall we were able to get stuff done pretty well and today is a new day. Storm tracker6 live double scan dry across most of the region. If we go down south into delaware were still looking at a couple of slow moving showers. Every now and then these open up a pretty good downpour and they kind of hang with you for awhile but most of the area dry. Its just southern New Castle County and northern kent county where weve got that stuff and a little bit south of chest county and the Eastern Shore of maryland. That might try to chug through over the next couple hours as well. As we take a look outside most of the area is looking dry with a mix of clouds on some sunny breaks developing early. Looks like theres a little bit of breeze in center city with some of our flags waffling and others not. 71 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia and the dewpoint has dipped to 59. Thats out of that humid territory and most of the area dashon be all that humid. The exception would be areas close to the delaware bay and the shore o winds out of the northeast at just 6 Miles Per Hour officially at the airport currently. As we take a look at cloud cover on satellite more clouds to their south, more sun to the north. Overall well call it partly sunny and these additional showers were keeping an eye on them on the other side of washington but they look like they might fall apart from before they get here. I think any of the shower activity you see locally probably dissipates after about 9, 10 oclock. Its mainly down in those southwestern areas. 75 is your temperature at 8 oclock in philadelphia. Not all that humid in the city today. 81 by 10 oclock. 83 by noon and a high of 86 at 3 oclock this afternoon, partly sunny skies overall. Hopefully no problems for the ball game. Later this week, thursday into friday weve got a big ridge of High Pressure out to the west. Thats going to cap the big high heat in the western states this week. But in the east that means weve got a trough thats pretty much a typical pattern and we are looking at an area of low pressure that will develop in the base of that trough, often happens that way, and its going to come through on thursday into friday, so future tracker6 by noon showing that were dry. You get past 2, 3, 4 oclock theres a chance of this developing. Thursday night at 11 00 theres more of us, some of us getting thumped with downpours and some of this could survive into friday morning and ill be showing you this on storm tracker. Partly sunny and warm, 86 today. Nice. Low humidity. Tomorrow not as warm, a little bit more humid, 78 the high and then that afternoon rain starts to build in. That continues off and on overnight into friday morning and then friday afternoon its more humid but at least were drying out with a high of 87. Thats the way shes looking now. After that, we get into a really nice stretch of weather and conveniently it starts in time for the weekend. Saturday partly sunny, sunday mostly sunny, highs in the mid to upper 80s both of those days and that pattern continuing monday and tuesday, no rain, lots of sun and probably not too humid until maybe the second half of next week.
