You couldnt turn on the tv without seeing an ad from either camp but theyre not going to get it. Reporter yeah, such a narrow win, too, by republican senator pat toomey by just two Percentage Points over Katie Mcginty and like you said, they also made history because this was the most expensive u. S. Senate race ever. Well, take a look at this video. Senator toomey did not take the stage until 1 40 this morning after receiving a call from mcginty herself. Now candidates spent 160 million on this race. Negative and positive ads filled air waves and the internet. Now, the senate incumbent toomey had a huge a support from turn out in rural areas. He kept his distance from donald trump throughout the campaign. This will be the senators sector term. Now, Katie Mcginty who held a number of high profile jobs in washington and also harrisburg fought a tough campaign and then later congratulated toomey. Lets face it. This was a tough campaign. This was quite a battle. There was an alltime record amount of money spent against us. A lot of ads were just outright false. But you know, the voters were smart enough to figure it out as they usually are. Senator toomey and i have disagreed on a few things. But this i know. The the senator has served his commonwealth and he is raising a beautiful family in this commonwealth. He has earned and deserves our gratitude and respect and i wish him gods blessings and godspeed. Reporter and toomeys narrow win was followed by a number of republican wins in battleground areas across the country. Reporting live on the Art Museum Steps Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Back to you. Thank you annie. Voters in new jersey had two constitutional amendments on the ballot. One asked whether to dedicate every penny of the new gas tax to the Transportation Trust fund. Voters approved that measure. New jersey voters rejected expanding casino gambling beyond atlantic city. The ballot question asked whether to authorize the construction of two new casinos in separate counties in the northern part of the state. That was soundly defeated. Democrats kept the state of delaware solidly blue retaining their hold on the governors office. Democrat john carney defeated republican colin bonini 58 to 39 percent. Carney thanked supporters at the Double Tree Hotel in wilmington. The win comes eight years after losing the democratic gubernatorial primary to Current Governor jack markell. In fact storm tracker6 live double scan shows you some of those showers out to the west. Some of them are pushing into Lancaster County. Future tracker6 showing that you between now and 9 oclock, we do have the chance of a wall of showers coming through and that continues through the Morning Hours and then through the afternoon some more showers are possible. You might get a break every now and then but generally speaking kind of damp and even as late as 6 oclock the new model runs are suggesting we do have some lingering rain. This probably gets off the coast later on this evening and then well see clearing overnight. Over the next 12 hours cloudy and damp 51 degrees by 8 oclock, 53 by 10 oclock. By noon 55 degrees. And by 3 oclock, this afternoon thats your high 58 degrees and by 5 oclock down to 52 into the 40s this evening fairly quickly. Your afternoon highs across the region 56 degrees in allentown, 57 in reading, not much difference really in the i95 corridor upper 50s there and way down south in cape may and dover well probably hit 60. Be careful its that time of year. Storm tracker6 live double scan showing the showers in lancaster just starting to reach parts of reading right now, not quite in allentown so the i95 corridor at the moment is dry as youre heading out the door very early this morning. Matt and tam. All right, thank you, karen. Donald trump will become the 45th president of the United States in a stunning victory. Trump needed to win nearly all of the competitive battleground states and he did just that. Claiming pennsylvania florida ohio North Carolina and other key states. Hillary clinton conceded the race to trump in a phone call early this morning. Trump then took to the stage at his Victory Party around 3 a. M. He struck a states man like note urging americans to come together as one United People after a deeply divisive campaign. A local seat on capitol hill is staying in the family. Republican Brian Fitzpatrick defeated steve sander zaire in bucks county eighths congressional district. Fitzpatricks brother mike is retiring from that seat in congress. Fitzpatrick says his work with the fbi will help him reform business in washington. Democrat dwight evans cruised into a new job. He wouldnt handily over gop challenger james jones in a show down in philadelphias second congressional district. Evans moves from his tenure as a law make interharrisburg as a state rep. He succeeds chaka fattah who was convicted of corruption. Just about 4 16 and the prospect of a Trump Presidency was apparently not priced into the financial markets. Its not what they expected. Well have more on that coming uply. When we come back election day was a good one for the Marijuana Legalization movement. Well tell you more. David. Lots of clouds out there and eventually some showers on the bus stop. Rain gear not a bad idea. 50 at 6 00 a. M. And probably about 51 by 8 00 a. M. Staying cool this afternoon. And theres no minimum balance. Youre alright with simply right checking from santander bank. Are you feeling alright, baby . Across Delaware Valley voters headed to the polls in droves. Voters waited for several hours determined to exercise their right to vote. I stopped in in the morning, saw the line was out of the out of the door. Going back to the gymnasium. I went back to work thinking that i would come here later tonight and the line is still pretty long. This is actually our seconds time waiting in line today because we waited for an hour earlier and then had to leave. Its worth the two hours, you know, plenty of people who died we all can vote. Another voter told us if you didnt take the time to vote you really cant complain this morning about the outcome. The last time that everyone went to bed not knowing who won the presidency was in 2000 with george w. Bush. Now people are waking up donald trump won. Thats right. Some people might have been up all night just waiting to find out. Perhaps. It wasnt that long ago tam included. If youre a little bleary eyed lets show you what your commute looks like at this early hour. Here were looking at the regional rails. We saw some normal delays for the referrals yesterday. Yesterday was our first day without the septa strike for your morning commute and traffic was moving okay with the mass transit. However, the regional rails we saw 10 to 20 minute delays yesterday and that will likely be again the same today. Were looking live out here in west deptford gloucester county. Were on 295 at 644. Thats your southbound traffic on your right moving fine towards paulsboro. No problems and still dry at this moment right there in west deptford. Also in Cinnaminson Burlington county construction blocks the left lane for about another hour and a half on 73 southbound right at route 90 dave. All right. Wet roads out to the west of philadelphia and Lancaster County and parts of berks county right now karen. Theres also a steadier cell out to the west and this is more or less moving toward the east with a little bit of a slide toward the north. Today does look like a day that will be cloudy and feature off and on showers. Right now were at 52 in philadelphia, just line in wilmington, 46 in allentown, 58 degrees in cape may, so cool, not all that windy and as we roll through the day its going to stay cloudy and damp at times with off and on showers straight into the early evening hours. 51 degrees by 8 oclock. 53 by 10 oclock. 55 by noon and your high today is going to be that 58degree reading at 3 oclock before we dip all the way back to 48 by 6 oclock. At the airport it looks like all green aircraft on the big board and no sign of rain outside of philadelphia. Philadelphia is not reporting it yet but it will get damp over the next probably hour to hour and a half in the city. Matt and tam. Thank you david. Financial markets around the world took a nose dive right as they realized donald trump would be elected president. Its not necessarily that he won its that it wasnt expected. Europe is down slightly in trading right now. Dow and nasdaq futures are down as well. Wall street closed up yesterday as the polls suggested Hillary Clinton would win the presidency giving some sort of financial certainty. Well see what happens though when the opening bell rings at 9 30
