All of that is unusually high for our area. 49 durham, 49 in holly springs. From the triangle northward temperatures in the 40s. We are up to 61 in clinton. We have our eye on warm air to the south and east that will push into our area. Once it spreads across the viewing area later this morning, thats when we really get into a greater threat for Severe Weather. This morning temperatures hovering closer to 50 but by lunchtime into the mid60s and some real threats continuing into the afternoon. Brian, our risks this morning our fog and rain that is fallen. We have a lot of fog building up. We do and in some areas it looks pretty thick on the cameras. Some of that may be low cloud cover but in some areas we are seeing fog on e ground. It is 7 03. Lets take a closer look at the road weather index attaches the conditions. A lot of us, pretty much all of us are seeing wet roads and as elizabeth mentioned the way though showers are, they come through quickly and make them very heavy rainfall briefly as they move on, leaving behind ponding water, even. Be extra careful as you ad outhis morning. That mustard color that you see which pretty much involves everybody in the viewing area is likely where we are going to see me fog. Take it easy as you head out this morning. We have a report of a stalled vehicle on sumner boulevard and now in raleigh that is e only incident we are seeing on the major route to find, 540 looks good on the north side of raleigh. All of your major routes are clear and delay free. 85 looks good in both directions from north durham, but if you are leaving chapel hill toward south durham at the moment, traffic moving along very nicely. Lets take a look at the driving force raleigh heading out of the airport d rtp. You can see the fog and the distance from westbound traffic heading away from wade avenue and iation parkway. Traffic moving well through the airport access out to 540 and the trip on 540, from week to 540 stanford six minutes. Thank u, brian. Those storms that elizabeth way. After that as elizabeth said, thats when the Severe Weather is expected to ll throughand we could see the threat of tornadoes. Once the Severe Weather begins well go into continuous coverage on wral and here in fox50. Lets talk about whats happening. No imminent danger. Our Biggest Issue at the moment as you just saw on the camera on rdu is the fog. Visibility is dropping down to a quartermile across a good chunk of the viewing area as this warm air moves in. That will set the stage for stronger storms later on this morning and this afternoon. Right now, we have been patchy light rain earlier this morning in the 5 00 hour. We have to render storms that came in right through the western part of the ewing area. The thunder and lightning is over but at the moment again, some patchy rain. These cells are moving pretty quickly, the ones that are out there so you might have heavier rain that develops but its certainly not going to be something that sticks around a lot. Lets change systems and talk about whats going on with the other system. You can see as we look at radar we have precipitation down south moving to e north. As we get into late morning and midafternoon, we can see that squabbling developing in the triad ving eastward. It will affect the western part of the viewing area first and again a promise that we will be with you all day long taking a look at it. Our apex skycam looking foggy out there this morning. It is whats out there, too. 49 degrees with the southwest window 12 Miles Per Hour. That is a hint that warm air is coming. Southeasterly wind fishing that warm air pushing that warm air into the coast setting us up for the kind of atmosphere that would help support Severe Weather. It is 62 in clinton, 61 in goldsboro. All through e morning, we continue to watch the advance of the warm air. And again once it is in place and we start to be concerned about the Severe Weather. Back to the visibility, quarter mile at the airport, three quarters of a mile in south hill, quarter of a mile in rocky mount and wilson. So many cameras are oking foggy. Brian will talk about that coming up in a few minutes but thats definitely a concern. Heres a look at the set up. We have a warm front here that will continue to back and across the ea, ringing this warm, moist air into the region. But we have a powerful locating a lot of support from this. A lot of strong wind coming up out of the south. And right here is where we have this strong thunderstorm right now in the Severe Weather tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, damaging window happening in South Carolina and down into georgia. Heres a look at timing. As we go to morning up until 11 00, expect scattered showers. Now i would not discount the early 11 00. Futurecast has it a little bit later and so it may be closer to lunchtime before it develops and moves across the area continuing to cross the viewing area through the afternoon. We do have what we would consider here a fairly high risk for Severe Weather for today. We will have storms that produce wind damage, we will likely have tornadoes. The greatest threat is going to be from raleigh eastward but the entire viewing area weather today. Wind damage, straightline winds, that may be in excess of 70, 75 Miles Per Hour are a good likelihood as well as scattered tornadoes. Some flooding and hail may happen but they will not be the higher price. Temperature climbs to 71, feeling like a springlike pattern for us and back to normal conditions as a get into the day thursday. Thursday will still be on the windy side but after that it quiets down a od bit. We can looks decent with sunshine and a bit of a warm up. Monday looks beautiful. Monday is the day that we have been waiting for, we will come nbc to our wral family. Brian come out there on the roads that fog continues to intensify , as that were americas closer to us it is more widespread. Were watching disabilities dropper on the cameras in the triangle and in fayetteville. Lets take a look at the beltline on 440 westbound around central raleigh. We start off at six forks road. The fog not so bad on that camera. You can see the beltline itself is pretty wet is morning. And, if you could see 440 at glenwood avenue, you would see building traffic on the westbound side. Notice on the sensors, as soon as you got get beyond heading out toward lake boone trail and wade avenue, traffic thins out. Right now the trip om 40 to wade avenue not so bad, 13 minutes. That will change as a gatekeeper to the 7 00 hour. Heres a look at the road weather index. A lot of us see what roads, even in the sand hills where we are not seeing it filled in with green, you are still also fayetteville seems somewhat roadsas well. The cameras are pretty damn clear. And all of us, pretty much in the viewing area, seen from fog, and as elizabeth mentioned, some areas down to quartermile visibility or below. Thats where we get concerned about visibility on the road. The careful as you head out. Slow down, dont forget to use low beam headlights and always turn on headlights whenever your windshield pers are on. No accidents to report right now. Thats good news. Coming through garner, nothing heavy delays on 40 westbound. 42 through the beltline split Holding Steady at 13 minutes. Through the fortify work zone nobid backups. Lets get right to elizabeth gardner. Moving across the area at the moment but as we head to midto late parts of the day, we have a chance of Severe Weather developing. This is the greater risk for Severe Weather we have had in some time. Is unusual for us to have a level 3 and level 4 out of 5 risk for vere storms. Greg fishel will be joined me later in the day, probably mid day into the afternoon before we start to see stronger storms in the ea. We will take a look at the radar. We have had showers and thunderstorms already this morning but nothing severe. We need to get that warm air in here first. We have a warm front moving across the viewing area and as temperatures climb into the 60s we will move into that more unstable air that could produce some thunderstorms. Heres a look at the temperature. 62 clinton, 61 goldsboro. That warm arizona move but at the moment, our air mass is too stable to produce Severe Weather. That does change as we get to the afternoon. 71 degrees, the high later this afternoon. We have a good chance for damage and tornadoes, possibly hail and flooding. The greatest threat for that will not come until midtolate morning. Thursday and friday, the weather is quiet but of course, we encourage you to ay tuned during the day. Slow down on those wet and foggy roads. Theres a look at the road weather index, a lot of us seeing those conditions from fayetteville up to the North Carolin
