I will say that a lot of times people are shocked by what kind of weather happens maybe because they were not paying attention to the forecast. Its not that often that the meterologists are shocked but i was truly shocked when i came in and saw what models have done. Its just a little hard to digest, like you said. Yesterday, it looked like carolina would have the biggest impact, and now, the best mikely likelihood is it stays offshore. We may still have more dramatic changes. Its amazing what the Different Solutions are. Ideas that the computer models had. Some became more of a consensus yesterday and overnight last night we had dramatic changes. Of course, they affect North Carolina in a positive way. Lets take a look at whats going on with the storm right now. Oh, excuse me. And of course, the center of circulation is starting to reform and its starting to try and reform an eye north of cuba you can see that on the satellite picture, and we will there it is. Reforming the eye which is ragged which is expected as it comes overlapped and it gets a bit unorganized. Once it gets back over water, it should organize better, and it will run over the islands of the bahamas, keeping it slightly more disorganized, and it looks like tell strengthen back to a category 4 storm, moving north at 10 Miles Per Hour and across the bahamas, winds at 130 miles per to a category 4 storm and then takes aim at miami and hugs the coast of florida. Thats the current forecast track. Watch that. It does look like it may stay off the florida coast. If it does, it lessens the impact of florida. As the center of the storm gets on the coast of the florida it means theyll have a lot stronger winds and more damage. Lets take a look at what were seeing here. Late friday night, winds at 1 coast of georgia. So this is a slower track than what we were seeing yesterday, and its much farther offshore. 2 00 a. M. Sunday, winds at 100 Miles Per Hour and off the coast of North Carolina. As a matter of fact, theres not that much of North Carolina thats actually in the cone of uncertainty now and that was much different at 11 00 a. M. Yesterday. The forecast track had shifted way to the west and with such fluctuations we can expect more of those. I dont think this is the final word on where computer models are starting to trend to take that turn to the east and then what happens is a lot of them bring it down to the south and make a circle. Some of it bring it back out into the atlantic. You can see with this uncertainty with the computer models, it will be tough to say until we get farther down the road. Typically, we have a couple of days out, well have a much better idea. The heavy rain is expected to see here coming up. Cloud cover, 62 degrees and breezy and northeast winds, and temperatures are cool in the 60s. What is impacting matthew is this High Pressure system sitting here to the north and east and those winds pushing southed ward will help to push the storm toward florida if you looks like our front may because of that make it here in time to kick the storm off the coast. It doesnt look like that would be the thats why were seeing the big change in our forecast track and changes the amount of rainfall here. Instead of 4 to 6, we could see. 50 to 2 inches in the north of to 2 to 5 down south. Coming up in half an hour, ill show you what the Tropical Storm force potential winds we may see in our area and thats down as well. Bryan mimes is in for brian accidents. It still hugs the coast of florida and is moving away from cuba and haiti and through the bahamas as a category 3 and florida as a category 4 storm and slows down saturday night into sunday but the current forecast track keeps it farther away from the coast of North Carolina. Ill talk more about that coming up. Heading out the door, gray and drizzle and stays cool and clouds with a high of 70 degrees. Bryan . Good morning, elizabeth. Take a look at the heavy traffic on i26 as residents left. Eastward is a very promising direction for north carolinians when we talk about the track of the storm. We woke up to good news this morning. And elizabeth, its early, though. Right, elizabeth . Its still early. It is, and, of course, were looking at a huge change overnight last night compared the computer models are showing the interaction between High Pressure to the north and cold to the west and the changes there is changing our forecast track, and well talk about that coming up in about 15 minutes. The current stats, winds at 125 moving north at 10 Miles Per Hour and that storm is moving a lot of damage to haiti as was expected, and if nothing were to change with the forecast track it would likely be that florida of all the parts of the United States would get hit the hardest by this, maybe the storm is closest to florida, the center of circulation and then it makes this turn to the right. Now, yesterday t looks like it would stay more to the north and come across parts of North Carolina but that has changed in the last 24 hours. That said, my goodness. Well see what happens in the because of all the rapid changes, that leaves a low confidence forecast so i encourage you to check in with us. Well have other update at 11 00 a. M. And well share that with you on our news at noon, and at 5 00 and we may continue to see changes waiting for the next run of the computer models as it continues with the crazy shift. Our temperatures this morning roxboro and our forecast for today a lot of cloud cover, and thats going to keep our temperatures cool. Lunch time, 66 and we only top out at 70. Bill . You can keep up to date on the interactive tracker. You will want to do that next few days on wrals weather app and wral. Com. Its time to get a check of traffic this morning. Good morning, bill and lena. Things are beginning to slow down around the triangle with sluggishness on the beltline and a number of accidents around raleigh. Well zoom in and show you where some of the accidents are, a couple on lewis burg near downtown raleigh. But it doesnt look from the censors like its causing any major problems. Heres a look at 440 and capital boulevard. Things are getting slow on the beltline. Heres proof. You can see the westbound 440 at the wake forest road exit. Well, we just lost the shot. I540, we are seeing sluggishness there. Be mindful of that. Heres a look at the drive times through southern wake county, 18 minutes on highway 1. Make that northern wake county, northern wake. And wake forest at u. S. 1 south, 18 minutes. And westbound 540 from capital boulevard out to i40, an 18 minute drive. We are beginning to see slow downs on 540 so be aware of that. [laughter] one of the positive things that were seeing out of this, so much less rain that was initially expected, at least right now. Exactly. Checking in for several reasons. One, you know, anything dangerous going to happen . And two, are you going to be able to pull off the plans for the weekend . Its still up in the air and certainly, well have some rain here but less than what it looked like yesterday. The storm, matthew s trying to reform an eye pulling away from cuba. Well zoom in, and its headed to the bahamas, trying reform the eye and get reorganized after it passes over land, crosses over land and it encounters friction. Its just trying to reform up there. And we will likely restrengthen to a category 4 storm, and right now, this is the latest advisory from the initial hurricane center. Its early. 7 46 now and it comes in later, and its nice to have that in early. The winds are down. At 10 Miles Per Hour and its making a northwesterly turn. So those are brand new changes from the hurricane center. We dont get a new forecast track until the 11 00 advisory and well share that at noon. Its interesting to see if it changes much. Its forecast to become a category 4 and brush the coast of florida, and it takes more of a right turn away from the coast of North Carolina. This is a big com compared to yesterday. So the cone of uncertainty clips North Carolina. We could have a lot of beach erosion and heavy surf, wind and rain, up to 10 along the coast, and for us, they are likely to be a lot lower. The timing is slower, too. Heres friday night and sunday cape hatteras. This is a look at the last 4 runs of the american computer model. The latest is the blue dot. These circles show where the forecast models are taking it. Oh, wait a minute. Lets go back. I want to make sure that i show that to you. This is very, very interesting. Well put this in motions and notice for a coup everything is the same, and then we get to friday and saturday, and this is the latest run, moving along quickly and all along the same path, and each run is a little bit slower. But all of a sudden, this run brings it out directly into the atlantic and then down in the bahamas. Beast time we get by the time we get into next week im looking at this, a little decreased winds in our area and looking at maybe a 10 to 20 chance of Tropical Stormforce winds. As we head closer to the coast, maybe a 50 chance. As you head into south carolina, it goes up to 60 , and even toward the coast of florida, the chance goes up higher. We could still have windy conditions here and the chance for strong winds and heavy rain is going down. Its gray out there this morning, and the airport, 62 and breezy, cool all day, and we have a lot of low cloud cover, High Pressure up to the north and winds will rotate clockwise and push down towards florida but its likely to move away from us, potentially in time for the front to make it here and push the storm into the atlantic and away from North Carolina where the change is coming from. Friday and saturday, and the totals, maybe. 50 to 1 to 2 inches from the triangle area northward and 2 to 3 southward and heavier amounts down to the coast and wilmington. Bryan mims is in for Brian Shrader and the accidents are multiplying . Popping like popcorn and its getting busy especially in raleigh inside and outside the beltline. Let me show you some of the crashes to be head out the door. Notthe accidents themselves are not causing major delayss but the red on the beltline, 440 is slow, and its 33 minutes from i40 out to the wade merge. You are not getting anywhere quickly on westbound 440. Capital boulevard, southbound u. S. 1, thats slow as well. Drive and you can plan plenty of time to get south on capital boulevard. You can see the traffic here at capital and Burlington Mills road, sluggish to say the least. And allow extra time on 540 going west. And northern wake county, u. S. 1 south at capital boulevard, 16 minutes, and capital boulevard, interstate 40, just went up to 21 minutes this morning. Lena and bill . Thank you, bryan.
