This attack is hitting close to home for many in our region. Theres an outpouring of support in the French Embassy. Chris gordon begins our Team Coverage on the local impact of this tragedy. I spoke to one of the owners and she tells me she lived in nice for a dozen years. People lined up outside the French Embassy to get visas and passports this morning. The bloodshed in nice weighing heavily on everyone. Its really devastating. Its really sad what happened in nice. Reporter a few people have left flowers at the French Embassy to show support for the victims families. Warren schneider wore a french flag around his neck like a cape. All im trying to do is show support for the people of france. You can do it with words or flags. They suffered a terrible tragedy. Jail has died and its raising new questions about the condition of that facility as Mark Segraves reports, temperatures instead the jail continue to rise and because of an aging cooling system. Reporter yesterday afternoon, about 1 00, 70yearold inmate lester erby fell ill and was taken to a hospital where he later died. News4 has been receiving complaints from inmates and family and friends for days about the conditions inside d. C. Jail during this heatwave weve been experiencing. Jail officials acknowledge that its an aging building and that this recent heatwave has put pressure on the cooling system. Theyve been bringing in ice, allowing inmates to have more shower time and time out of their cells and brought in big but advocates for inmates tell news4 its not enough. The conditions are that bad, you need to make sure that were only having people that absolutely need to be housed there. Reporter officials tell news4 that his death appears to be from natural causes. They would not say whether or not its related to the heat inside the jail. From d. C. Jail, Mark Segraves, news4.
