Heavy rain and golf ballsized hail went on for hours in middleburg, virginia, last night. Look at the size of the hail. The area remains under flood watch this morning and the line of thunderstorms with powerful wind gusts snapped some trees. Cars were also damaged pretty badly because of the hail. Some neighbors actually put down sandbags to keep the water out while others were without power for hours. This morning the National Weather service is investigating to see if those storms produced a tornado in virginia. You can see the funnel cloud in these pictures as well as some video we got. It isnt clear if the twister caused damage. The weather was a problem for those trying to get out of town. Someone tweeted this video while stuck on a plane at Reagan National for hours. At one point a full ground stop was in effect. Somewhere close to 50 flights were canceled at dulles and reagan. A good number of flights set to leave bwi at 6 00 p. M. Did not take off until after midnight. Its 5 03. Two big fires are burning right now. Both are out west. Hundreds of acres on fire in new mexico and southern california. There are also lots of evacuations under way. Were just getting new details on those wildfires that are spreading out west. Its hot, dry, factor in the winds overnight and just got word this blaze now at 1,700 acres. A stretch of highway 101 stic move through rugged coastal canyons west of santa barbara. Take a look at whats going to happen during this phase two. The second surge of the construction here. Its happening between Eastern Market and minnesota avenue and benning road stations. Now that means that the two stations in between those points potomac avenue and stadium armory, they will close down entirely until the work is done. Were talking about a 16day period here from june 18th through july 3rd. This is phase two of the surge. The hope here is that the work that will be done will make the system more reliable, safer, and certainly well see a lot of headaches as work goes forward. Were also going to see some disruptions in virginia starting on saturday. No trains will run between Arlington Cemetery and rosslyn. Were her at the New Carrollton station run from here to greenfield. Folks need to think ahead and come up with other plans and some people should just take some other way or figure out some other way to get to work. We now know how this little boy died. 2yearold lane graves was killed when an alligator dragged him off at a disneyworld resort on tuesday night. The Orange County medical examiner says the toddler died of drowning and traumatic injuries. A dark chevy was seen leaving the area after Police Arrested a getaway from a quadruple shooting last week. Investigators are still on the hunt for the mass shooter who is accused of targeting victims. Donald trump attacking president obama for his response to the orlando mass shooting. At a Campaign Rally in dallas, trump claimed the president is blaming guns for the attack and that Hillary Clinton wants to abolish the Second Amendment. Trump will hold a rally in houston tonight. There will be a Community Meeting this morning about preventing the spread of the zika virus in Prince Georges County. It will be at the Southern Regional technology and recreation complex in fort washington. Health officials will let you know about safe ways for cleaning up standing water. They will also have travel advice. The meeting begins at 10 00 a. M. News4 went behind the scene to see how they test for viruses. The control plan includes trapping and testing mosquitos in all eight wards. Up until this year it only tested for west nile virus. This year it added testing for viruses of three others. As of today the district says it has no confirmed cases of any of those viruses. We want to make certain that things that are of concern and being able to report that to the public. Again, for Public Safety and also for confidence in where we currently stand. The testing on mosquitos is done in d. C. s forensic lab. Doctors showed us it found one potential positive case but they are not sure which virus it is yet.
