Police arrested a 18yearold man who police say stabbed the woman several times. This happened in a wooded area in wheaton. Thats good news for our Labor Day Weekend plans. The beaches could still take it on the chin, for us, if it thends up verifying, that will be a lot less wind and rain threat for us. It keeps it off shore. Notice the storm slows down and stalls out. The reason its behaving to erattly, theres a big area of High Pressure settling down from canada. If the storm settles down to our west, it pushes it farther out to sea. Thats the reason for the change in forecast here. We have been following a developing story on metro this morning. The rhode island avenue station is back open after falling debris shut overnight. The most important thing to know right now is rhode island metro station is back open. I want to show you, look back here in the corner where you see that red scaffolding going up. That is where we believe that chunk of ceiling fell last night. We have some pictures of that close up in just a second. The gates open to the station just after 5 00 this morning. We caught people standing here waiting for the station to open at 5 00. It opened just a little bit late at about 5 05. Now, that chunk of ceiling that fell, metro is calling it metal and concrete, and we could see an area of the station here where it looked like the ceiling had been patched up very recently. Theres scaffolding there. There is some sort of barrier there. Engineers did the work to hopefully repair that section of the station, but, yeah, around 8 30 last night, it fell. The station closed, trains were bypassing rhode island avenue. There were shultz buses provided to help people get where they needed to go. A bit of an inconvenience for people. Werent sure when the station would open back up. Metro started tweeting at 4 30 this morning that they were getting ready to open the station back up and after 5 00, the gates opened up. This accident happened monday night. Emergency records show the first 911 call came in at 6 05 but units werent dispatched until 6 11. The spoke person for the d. C. Office of unified Communications Says there was confusion between the operator and the wouldnt characterize it as a delay in getting it out. It took some time to figure out exactly where this incident was occurring. We had multiple addresses and locations. Now the officer of unified communications hopes to have Better Technology by next year that would let 911 operators pinpoint the location of every call. Police and other motorists helped lift the tree off the car as rescue crews arrived. The driver was seriously injured. Good news for lots of families. The Insurance Institute put out some brandnew child safety ratings. A year ago they criticized car makers for making car seat safety latches too hard to find or even access. Heres the very latest. This is the 5 00 a. M. Advisory from the hurricane center. The next advisory comes out at 11 a. M. This morning. For now, the storm is forecast to become a category one hurricaneef by 2 00, the storm is inland, from savannah, georgia. Heres where things have considered considerably. The old forecast track had the storm coming up over the lower parts of the Chesapeake Bay late saturday. The new forecast keeps it considerably farther out to satisfy. This does not mean we should let our guard down. Dont focus on the line. Focus on anywhere in the cone. We are still inside the cone of possibilities for having to deal with the center of the storm. So that means that our chances for heavy rain, though lower now because of that better track could still be there. Dont turn your back on it because of this new track. Still a lot of uncertainty with this. Its going to have a big impact at the coastline. We could have heavy rain here.
