Firefighters shot while having to rescue the pair yesterday afternoon. The temperature at that time was below freezing. You can see the man there holding on to the trees. Trail near 16th street and colorado avenue when the dog took off. The dog slipped down a snow covered hill and became stuck. That is when the owner tried to rescue it and also became stuck. He was probably 200 feet down on a 60degree incline and he was holding on to a tree that was keeping him from sliding further down the hill and into rock creek. The man and his dog were stranded for about two hours. First responders say he suffered minor injuries. The dog is okay. It was about 20 degrees when all this happened. Thats not including the windchill. Firefighters say as passerby heard the man yelling for help. My goodness, i cant imagine what would happen if someone didnt hear hill. Because that park is remote. They had actually three incidents where drivers had eye injuries because on of shattered windshields, the glass getting into their eyes. So it can be a serious and potentially dangerous situation. The issue is the ice and snow build up in the wheels that can cause the tires to become unbalanced. Once the snow melts, your car should drive normally again. If youre really worried, you can use your snow brush to clean in between the spokes of the wheels, if you will, to knock off some of that snow and ice.
