Nbc news has confirmed that former fbi director james comey wrote a memo claiming President Trump urged him to shut down the investigation on Michael Flynn and his ties to russia. The story was first reported by the New York Times. According to a course close to comey, the memo was part of a paper trail, documenting what he believes was the president s attempt to investigation to the campaign. Comey wrote it on february 14th, the day after flynn resigned. It was also after comey attended a meeting with the president at the white house. Comey quoted the president saying, quote, i hope you can see your way clear to letting this go to letting flynn go. The white house denies asking comey or anyone else to end the investigation. Now, this latest development has led to a flood of reaction from capitol hill. Some lawmakers saying President Trumps attempts to shut down the administration raised questions about obstruction of justice. Republican congressman jason chaffetz, the head of the Oversight Committee sent a letter to the fbi asking for all communications between comey and the president.
