I dont know theyre going to pull up here and offload a couple of personnel to go and talk to the pilot tors two people that were onboard the aircraft. Those guys on the aircraft were taken by fire rescue or brought to the fire rescue truck right over here and they are here. Theyre both talking to the fire rescue personnel and weve seen them on cell phones here talking to other folks. But they both appear to be in good shape and one has a hand injury to left hand there. Thats pretty muchhe information that weve been able to gather from 600 feet above. Guard, thank you for joining us and what can you tell us . Good afternoon. A short time ago the Coast Guard Command Center in miami received tification of a plane crash short distance offshore from haululer beach. We initially launchetwo of our boats from miami beach and local responders there on scene. We quickly got some initial reports that the two people onboard did not suffer serious injuries and were at least able to turn one of the boat crews around. We have one on scene, of course w the other local Emergency Responders. Diana and talk about the difficulties when they encountered on the scene a, the plane going down in the water. Were they able to get out on eir own or require assistance getting to shore . Its too ear to say. A lot of initial reporting, the good news here is that it doesnt appear there are any serious injuries the plane did appear to go down in some sha Shallow Water and a lot of agencies responding. Thats one of the great things here in south florida. All of the local, state, federal parters in when something happens, were all on scene quickly together. In this case, as you can see, theres quite a few Emergency Responders on scene. Christine lieutenant commander, any word on the flight path of 245 plane . No idea. This is just happening a short time ago t. Good news, it doesnt appear to be serious injujues and everyone is on scene happening so close to shore in Shallow Water, a lot of Emergency Responders are there now. Diana lieutenant commander, we appreciate your tim and the efforts that you made to get those two people to shoreful we are getting information right now from the faa that this was a piper pa28 that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean east miles east of opalocka that happened faa. And right now the faa is investigating along with the National Transportation safety board to determine the cause. Were talking about a piper plane, two people aboard. Ande are getting instagram photos of the moment the plane went in the water. Youre looking at liveictures of that plane. This, as weve been mentioning, certqinly a lot of people in the area at the time. This dididt happen far from shore right a few hundred feet from the shoreline there at 108th and collins. Youre looking at a picture from the ritz carlton right next door, literally windows looking out this this area, someone there saw something very unusual, plane in theater and this is the picture from instagram that was taken of that plane as it went down in the water, once again, a piper pa28 that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean relatively close to the shoreline. And live pictures of the plane the two people aboard t tt plane did manage to get outful they are onshre being checked out by miamidade fire rescue. And were being told that they made it out fine and no injuries,o serious injuries sustained here. Christine and on the phone now 1s rosh lowe who is here to tell us more about ha he knows about it. Reporter whats incredible, you will see the video i saw on my cellphone of the two survivors of the ulane that went down. Theyre being put in the back of the miamidade fire rescue truck, rescue 76. When we arrived on video, i was able to get video, they appear young in their 20s. One had a cut on their nose. I asked if they were lucky to be alive. They werent in the mood to talk and we saw them walk around and sitting in the back of the fire rescue truck. I asked them where they were sitting and talking to one another. Where if you look at the pictures of the plane when it went down, you realize how fortunate they are to be alive and to be here and hopefully we will see that video in a few moments. From my Vantage Point, they just had a cut on the n noseful they are being treated in the back of a rescue truck. Now, the other part of this story, which is interesting, after days an days of rain, it was a beautiful beach day. There were quite a few people on this stretch of beach that came out to haulover that were here. Sitting on the beach and look up in the sky an see this plane going down in the water. Its goioi to be interesting to see the video and image theym sure people had from the van tablg point on the beach. In fact, when we arrived, one of these beach goers said it was sunny day and wanted to get out relatively crowded, albeit on a Tuesday Morning but quite a few people on Haulover Beach that water. Hopefully we will be getting that video shortly. When we arrived on scene, we saw the two people identified by miamidade fire rescue, the two people in the back of rescue 76. Theyre in the back of the fire rescue truck. I was able to get up close video of them an they appear toe okay. Theyre talking to paramedics, talking to miamidade fire rescue, Miamidade Police were talking to them. They appear to be in relatively good shape. Incredible when you consider how that plane went down in the water. Diana all right, rosh. Were looking at that video relatively close to them right next to them. It looks likee theyre being asked to go into the miamidade fire rescue unit there. Talk about their reaction once again and haere seeing in the video that you sen. You know what wasa pretty and now the policee tape is up. There was no police tape up, just basically me and this fire rescue truck. When i walked up, said to the Miamidade Police officer on scene, are these the two guys in the plane, he told me yeah. As you can see from the video rightthere, they were being treated. They had sand on them. One of them had a cut on his nose, the second person that will see in the video. With everything that theyve gone through an we look forward to hearing ha this story is, where they were coming from, why the plane went down, did they try to land the plane there. With everything that they went through, they made that landing. They went down there right in the water, which, as youre standing here, you saw how close that is to the jetty out there, to the pier. So they were able to land there and basically talking to miamidade fire rescue and miami thereful we did ask both of them, the second person that we spoke to, we said do you feel lucky to be alive . He said im not in the mood now to talk. Obviously a lot of relief that theyre okay and must still be stunned from whatever occur ued here. Hopefully we will be getting more information exactly where they were coming from. They both appear to be relatively young in their 20s. And now currently sitting in the truck. Christine rosh, one of the things that you mentioned earlier, after all the rain weve been getting, today is sufficient a Beautiful Day and a great day to be on the beach. Were there a lot of people there when this happened . Reporter yeah like i was saying, when we got out here, one of the first people that we spoke with said to me just that. It was my impression this is a Beautiful Day. Here, albeit like i said before, a Tuesday Morning, people are at work but there are a lot of beach goers. I did ask several of my contacts from surrounding Law Enforcement agencies trying to get video of this plane actually going down into the water and what were told and were still trying to find the people that have the video yeah, people did pull out their celnes that were taking this on an look up and see the plane going down in the water. In a few moment, we will be able to establish our live pictures for you so youll actually be able to see the currency here. Have the miamidade fire rescue truck in the water, but its not a huge scene. There are two miamidade fire rescue trucks, most of the activity is occurring n the air. You saw the Police Chopper in the air searching. Have two miami rescue, survivors on the scene and all of the people on the beach talk about what they saw, what they witnessed today. Diana and rosh, as we look at these live pictures of the plane in the water pretty crystal clear, were talking about video of cellphones came out surelel as it happened. One of those was from the ritz carlton hotel, just a few hundred yards from thereful you can see everything from the windows there. This is it right here. His caption that didnt go ap planned, hashtag not a seaplane. You can see the moment this plane went in the water an not what this guy expected on the Beautiful Day or beach goers right there witnessing it happening. When you look at this picture, you really do realize how lucky the poo people board were to in just 20 feet of water, be able to get the plane to land in such a way where they were able to get out relatively safely and get to shore. This is the aftermath right now. It is now down in the water. The good news is the two guys that were in that plane are now onshore and werelooking at video that you shot, rosh, just a fewoments ago. When you arrived on the scene, there was nobody the but two guys getting checked out by fire rescue. They appeared to be in good condition. Wh we first saw video from sky tors aboard the plane, they were high 5ing, one of them there with an apparent nose injury a a thats about it, as far as we can tell. This according to the faa, a statement they released. This is a piper pa28 that did crash this the ocean. There it was 8mile east of opalocka. Its unclooer if they left opalocka. Were getting a determination on that and their 23450ig9 planful official word from the faa. It happened about 11 47. Once again the faa and National Transportation safety board investigate ing investigating and the good news as rosh first came up on the scene shows theyre doing just fine. Rosh . We were speaking about the people that actually witnessed this, as we mentioned, that there were quite a few people on the beach including this one group hehe. In a few moments, we are going to hopefully hear from them. Theyre speaking to one of our photographers now and one of them have some video of the aftermath. Therere two portions of the story. Theres the plane going down and video that i shot that shows the people who survived it and all of the people sitting on the beach taking the sun on a Beautiful Day and seeing see very often. Very good news to report, as we have been telling you t two people onboard were not only rescued, they are absolutely fine. In onef thth pictures we have been looking at, we see one of them on the phone. You can only imagine the phone call this you make to a relative and say hey my plane se in the water but im okay. Diana and we are able now to talk to aaron marks with miamidade fire rescue units there, battalion chief. Are you with us . Yes, i am. Good afternoon. Tell us what you did to help these guys get to shore . Well, weve had units that responded. We have a station right across we had fire rescue units here within minutes. There were other agent sis on the scene, frob what we understand. A small plane went down just hauf shore at haulover with two people onboard. They were quily picked up by rescue crews and brought to shore. Luckily they have very minor injuries. They were not transported and they were both fine. They had experienced some trouble and had put the plane down in the water short of the beach. Christine talk about a lucky accident. These two guys walk away just fine. A busy day on the beach. It is nice weather a little windy. I dont think that had nowing do with anything. The beaches just full of people. Im sure they had an interesting experience witnessing that. Lucky that thats come away fairly unscathed from the accident. And accident location and to give our viewers right there next to a busy hotel next to beach an close to you all, correct . Correct. And just north of the Haulover Inlet right an off the beach is where the accident occur you ared just on the north side of the jetty. Christine aaron mark, thanks so much for joining us. I was on the beach. The plane went totally in the ocean. It was very scary at first. At first i thought it was like on purpose and someone screaming and its real and theyre drowning and whatever. They got them to shore an they out of the windows and supposedly and i heard the pie hot say they pushed the wrong switch and the plane went crazy, it was broken or something. Reporter what was your impression . Where are you visiting from . Lakewood. Reporter youre visiting and you decided to come to the beach, so who are youut here with . My grandma, cousin. My mom was just like spinning around wondering what was happening. We didnt know. We saw person in the water and come out, come t. Reporter you were in the water . Yeah, we were in the edge o o the water and saw the plane crash and bottom of it was upside down and we just started screaming. Myrandma never saw Something Like this. She was like crazy, i just saw a plane go down. And tonight were going on a plane. Were more scared tonight because of what we just saw. Reporter walk me through this. Youre in the water with your family and sisters and swimming along on a Beautiful Day in south florida, a lot nicer than new jersey. A lot. What are you think sfg at first we thought it was on purpose that something hapapened and the plane crashed into the water and started screaming and running on the rocks and it was crazy. They described everything to us. Let me walk you hereful we were talking about the beach day here, people Still Standing there on the beach. As we move into the water there, you can still see there are police boats, t t United States coast guard and you can get a good Vantage Point of hoe close this is to the jetty there on the haulover pier. This family summed it up perfecy. They were out there swimming this the water and all of a sudden they see a plane go you heard from them. The plane. We have that video and we saw the pilots, the people inside of thal plane. The rescue truck that had the two pilots in it is gone. The rest of the people here, the people on the beach still looking at all of this activity out here. Once again as weve been mentioning throughout the morning was a beautiful beach day, a l of witnesses on the beach, including this family that you heard fromful they were in the water when this plane goes down very close to the pier here. We spoke to some of our friends over at the bal harbour police. They were on scene. Its just over that bridge that building right there, thats the ritz carlton where i believe there were some instagram photos taken. Carlton and b b harbour just on the other side of the jetty, theres a great Vantage Point of where this plane went down, especially from the upper floors there. Back here to the scene, you can still see wn. There if we move over here, you can see Miamidade Police still out there t coast guard still out there and another police boat still out there. The two survivors of the crash, they appeared to be fine. I was mentioning earlier on. Let me walk over hereful i mentioned earlier o o when we arrived, there was no police ta up. The two survivors were in this inner aa here. We were able to go right up to them and ask them some questions to see if they wanted to talk and they`didnt at that time. What an incredible story out really summed up the words from the family swimming this the water visiting from new jersey. They thought it was on purpose. They never had seen plane go down and they were able to get out and be treated by miamidade fire rescue. Diana rosh and as we look at these live picture, these guys could not have been luckier in the way to land the plane an get out. They reported to the scene pretty quickly. You mentioned they were young and two guys swam the way to shore, one nursing his nose injuries. Well. Talk about the situation you saw when you came on scene.
