As a parent you want to know what is going on with where your child is in school and even younger khivrm i want to know everything little thing. Each if something happened on the school bus. Reporter now, since we have not been able to get the superintendent to apps questions we are hoping he will answer your questions. To that end, fox 5 news tonight has compiled five questions viewers asked us to find out. They are as follows, one, why are 1 allowed to be in class with freshman girls as young as 14 years old and two, are students forced out of school at any age and three, did ncps know that one of the suspect had a deportation order against him. And four, how are unaccompanied minors who attend npcs monday towards and tracked inside the schools and five exactly what is being done to ensure the safety of students here in the future. Now, these question tonight, well, these are all in the happened of the ncps itself. We sent these along with a request for an interview again today and with dr. Jack smith as we told that interview was denied and we asked for a written response to these questions before that interview is granted. And we are waiting for that and we should tell you this is only part of what happened here in montgomery today. Earlier in the afternoon in another part of county, Council President of montgomery count Roger Berliner sat down for weekly press conference. It was supposed to be about the county budget and about transportation. What it turned into was very pointed questions about this incident here at rockville high school. Among those, what did the Council President think about how this has been handled by Montgomery County public schools. And did the Country Council leave the impression they were somehow cadling illegal immigration in this county by being supportive of people who were speaking out against Trump Administration policies to enact immigration enforcement. Well, the country president shot back strong against that saying that Montgomery County is not a sanctuary country and went ton say that the School Officials he says are doing a good job and he expect to handle them this well and we wanted to know, whether he thought it was School Officials or School Policies that he has questions about tonight what responsibility do School Officials bear for what may or may not have happened in that bathroom on friday and do 18yearold men belong to classrooms with freshman girls . I believe that that is a question to be posed to our School System, okay . As you know, it is a staterun separate system. I understand the concerns of parents. I do believe it is a fundamental responsibility of the School System obviously to have a safe environmenten and nobody should ever be fearful that something ugly like this is going to take place. And now the iron any in all this, while that very News Conference was taking place today ice immigration and Custom Enforcement september an within the United States that ice identified as places that chose not to oop rate with ice detainers or Customs Enforcement and in their words pojly endangering americans. On that list Montgomery County maryland and Prince George county, maryland. Were told of that announcement today and reiterated he does not believe Montgomery County is in any way a sanctuary county and he stressed ning country officials cooperate with ice when a criminal investigation is underway. And we reference that statements earlier from the superintendent jack summit. We should tell you it reads in part that the School Officials at montgomery country are working with School Officials and community to address the concerns and provide support and review security mish youre westbound the schooling. Ice tonight as we have stated, does have a detainer on one of the suspects, 18yearold henry sanchez. High school, tom fitzgerald, fox5 local news.
