Down to gary mcgrady with the latest. Thanks a lot. Were going to look at the sentinel radar to give you an idea of whats going on. Just so you know, Winter Weather advisory in place. It has been expanded just a little bit. Well talk about that here in just a second. Were seeing just a couple of very light rain showers out to the east of us across parts of prince georges, over into ana rundel county. Just a little bit, and its few and far between. Right now, it looks like most of the temperatures out there are above freezing. Here in town, were 34. Its really to the north and west. Dulles is 32, gaithersburg is 30 degrees. Temperatures are right around freezing as you start getting out there. Again, the Winter Weather advisory was expanded a few minutes ago. It now includes dc, fairfax county, Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, and ana rundel county, as well as howard too. That part of this advisory will expire at 6 00 in the morning. The rest of what you see here will run until 10 00 in the morning. The threat here, a little bit a very little bit of freezing rain, maybe some freezing drizzle too. Temperatures in the metro marginal for that, but some spots could be just a little bit slippery if theyve been untreated by tomorrow morning. Greater threat of that will be, again, farther to the north and west. Brian, were not expecting a lot overnight tonight. Just maybe a little bit of freezing rain and a little bit of freezing drizzle. All right, gary. After a massive winter storm buried much of the midwest, another system heading toward the northeast. Heres the latest. The storm dumped 17 inches of snow in kansas, and parts of oklahoma, missouri and nebraska had more than a foot of snow. Drivers struggling to control their vehicles. It was very upsetting. Reporter the storm forcing airlines to cancel hundreds of flights at chicagos airports, and in detroit, the morning commute became a nightmare. Every storm has its own personality. Were seeing a mixture of snow and sleet, and then going to have freezing rain throughout the day. As we go throughout the day, well be tackling those different fronts as they come through. This storm heading toward the northeast after dumping heavy rain in the south, the National Weather service issuing a winter storm watch for saturday and sunday in the region. Boston is expected to get 48 inches of snow. Forecasters are saying, wet snow could bring down many tree branches and power lines. Today at the nfl combine, a surgeon who performed his knee surgery said hes way ahead of schedule. In fact, the only job he has to do is to try to hold him back. Im sure trying to get him to slow down and take his time is the tougher of two jobs. I think its important to stress that were worried about the long term health, not worried about rushing back to week 1. I think its good everybodys calming the waters with these statements. Robert showed a glimpse of his rehab today, showing off his progress. Brandon merryweather is also recovering from knee surgery. Thats tough for you and i to do and we have healthy knees for the most part. I can do that blind folded. Griffin also had to clear the air earlier this week about the adidas ad that came out. He said im not rushing. I want to play for a very long time. It says, all in for week 1. So hes all in for week 1. Loe cant be back, he understands that as well. Progress. Maybe hell keep posting videos too. Absolutely. Thanks lindsay. Brian. Lance armstrong is going to have to answer to the department of justice for using performance enhancing drugs. The fox 5s will thomas is in the newsroom with the new developments, will. The Justice Department didnt decide just to go out of armstrong willynilly out of thin air. The head of the Us Antidoping Agency wrote a letter last month urging the Justice Department to join the civil case and holder agreed. Turns out that letter was dated the same day Lance Armstrong admitted his drug use to oprah on tv. And all seven of your Tour De France victories, did you ever take banned substances or blood dope . Yes. Now that Lance Armstrong made a confession, the governments theory is pretty clear. Here it is, when armstrong raced for the Us Postal Service team a decade ago in the Tour De France, he defrauded the government by violating the ban on illegal drugs. The fraud allegation is connected to this interview with oprah, because up until this point, armstrong claimed he didnt use performance enhancing drugs. Did you ever blood dope or use blood transfusions to enhance your cycling performance . Yes. I dont think he went far enough. Jason malony is a noted Litigation Communications expert in dc. He thinks armstrong confessed in an effort to lift the competition ban so he can get back to work and make millions again. Legally, hes got very few cards to play here. In terms of reputation, he felt, and im guessing by coming forward and admitting what happened, he could redeem himself in some way. The Postal Service spent about 30 million backing his cycling team. Under the false claims act, the government can recover three times that amount in damages, bringing the total to nearly 100 million. A quarter of that could go to armstrongs former teammate, floyd landis, for his role as the whistleblower. He was the first to publicly accuse him of cheating and admitted to cheating himself. Floyd used drugs too and lance feels the conspiracy goes even far deeper than that, and his position is many people are guilty in this entire process. If floyd is found to be part of the conspiracy, he could get nothing. Bottom line here, armstrong says dont blame just me and only me pay, we were all doping. His lawyer said in a statement today, and heres some of it, lance and his representatives were constructively over these last weeks with federal lawyers to resolve this case fairly, but those talks failed because we disagree about whether the Postal Service was damaged. The Postal Services own study show that the service benefitted tremendously from its sponsorship benefits totalling more than 100 million. Again, that is armstrongs attorney robert luskin. Legal experts tell me the fact that armstrong was in negotiations with the government indicates he knows hes going to have to pay something, and brian, were probably talking millions. Will thomas tonight. A district judge has rejected a request from Councilmember Jim graham to block a ruling by the ethics board.
