And then a few minutes later the call was upgraded to a woman with a gun. When they arrived, they located an adult female who was holding a black semiautomatic handgun. The officers gave multiple instructions to drop the weapon. The suspect did not drop the weapon after multiple verbal commands. She raised her arm with the weapon in it towards the officers. Two of our Police Officers fired. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Reporter its unclear why i see bell was in the neighborhood at the time but one witness says after she crashed the car, she got out and waved the gun around. Another witness says she told people who came to help her s her arrest. We heard something called and we thought somebody threw something in the trash can i can say told a little kid a white lady crashed her car and she was like dont call the Police Officer because she had a warrant on her and had a gun in her purse i turned around and she came over here, and i i guess she was arguing with somebody or Something Like that and she had the gun out. The suspect driving the ford suv struck the officer who was conducting the stop. From there, shots were fired. Now, it is unclear if both officers or just the second officer, who was not struck fired the shots. But as a result, we had three people who are injured on this scene on the 395 southbound offramp. The status of those three people that we heard about just about an hours ago, from Arlington CountyPublic Information officer, Ashley Savage is that one officer struck has been transported via ambulance with critical injuries. The second, who was not struck by the vehicle, was treated on scene and is ok. The third, the driver, the suspect, has been transported to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries. Skyfox was over the scene at maryland state say a 22yearold was driving the wrong way. And the driver of a second car were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. A third car involved was slightly damaged but the driver was not hurt. A virginia man attacked said a Good Samaritan prevented him from suffering serious injuries. There has been a new appointment and its a major change in the investigation in washington. Robert muller, whose ap former fbi director, has been named special counsel for russia investigation. This is a new position under the special counsel law, which was enacted back in 1999, since this in essence opens a new investigation into the activities of the russians as it relates to our election in 2016. And in addition, to possible collusion between members of team trump and the russians as they to work help team elected, and hurt Hillary Clintons chances of being elected. This appointment was decided this afternoon. And the decision was taken by rod rosen stein, whos the assistant now, and heres a quote from him. I determined that it is in the Public Interest for me to exercise my authorities and appoint special council to assume responsibilities for this matter. It goes on my decision is not a finding that crimes have been committed or that any prosecution is warranted. Ive made no such determination. That said, this is the restarting of an investigation. Remember, theres an investigation into the United States house, into the united the federal bureau of investigation issued a criminal investigation. Now we have the special council of course, this goes back a ways but at least to the firing of the fbi director james comey. James comey has now made the accusation that he wrote in trump asked him to halt the investigation into mike flynn a controversial member of President Trumps campaign, who was later made the National Security advisor, who was said to have had multiple contacts with the russians. Some under circumstances which have been questioned. Now there are questions about whether there were any criminal activities involved. No decisions, but questions about whether there was criminal activities regarding michael flynn. President trump is alleged to have asked that the investigation into that matter be stopped. If so, some democrats say thats tantamount to obstruction of justice. In other words, the president getting in the way of an investigation of his own campaign which can led Many Democrats to speak of the watergate issue in 1974, when president nixon was forced to resign after articles of impeachment came out and after he was accused of asking the fbi to halt an investigation into his campaign. So he has a very, very broad, wide charge, hes extremely independent and exactly what people on both sides of the aisle have been calling for in the past two weeks, particularly in the past 48 hours. Where do you see obviously, as i said a moment ago, special counsel muller will need time to get up to speed. There are those in the republican side who are feeling like its time to rip the scab off this wound. In other words, whatever has happened, get it over with so they can move on to 2018 mid term elections i heard you describing that brilliantly on your 3 00 show this afternoon and i think you hit the nail on the head.
