Right now on fox 29, a disturbing story shocking local police. A 21yearold severely disabled man was abandoned in Cobbs Creek Park tonight. Investigators say his own mother left him there with only a blanket and a bible. Good evening im joyce evans and weve just Learned Police have an arrest warrant for the mans mother 41yearold nyia. Investigators believe shes in baltimore with a boyfriend and she is not yet in custody. As fox 29s Joanne Pileggi explains her son is in the hospital tonight. Reporter the disabled victim was taken here to chop by paramedics. He was malnourished dehydrated and had a large cut on his back after being abandoned for five days in the park. Police are now preparing charges against the victims mother, it is a case that has stunned police and the community. Theres a male who was walking down a walking path, he sees the wheelchair so he goes to look in the wheelchair and sees this kid laying there on the ground and just does the right thing and calling the police right away. Reporter a horrible discovery, a young man a severely disabled quadriplegic was left in a wooded area of Cobbs Creek Park in west philly. But perhaps more disturbing, police say the victims mother left him there with a blanket and bible on monday. Its harder breaking to see another human especially a mother can treat someone like that when you had all the opportunities in the world to turn that kid over to family members who wanted to care of him. Reporter police say the victims mother left philadelphia to be with a boyfriend in baltimore and when she was questioned by detectives and family, she said her son was with her. Awful. I mean, i think that somebody who is a mother would feel that they would have the need to take care of their child regardless of the situation. You know, its the hand that they were dealt then need to take care of them. Reporter police say the young man is incapable of caring for himself. He has Cerebral Palsy and has been disabled since he was an infant. Theres absolute no reason to do what she did with this particular child. Investigators say alexander blare knew john booker was plotting a suicide bomb attack at fort riley but he did not report it. Booker was arrested yesterday. Final services for Erica Crippen awife an mother of two. They were held today at faith holy temple in camden. That was this morning. Investigators found her body last month in maryland.
