The democrats unlike the republicans last week have not put out any kind of a transcript of what to expect not even highlights of the sanders speech and so everyone in this room is left wondering will he make even a passing reference to that dnc email scandal that has so enraged his supporters or will he put it in the rear view mirror and show full throated support for Hillary Clinton . All over the Convention Floor are signs these delegates are not fully behind Hillary Clinton. Some are still feeling the berne. You still hold out home he can be the nominee. Hell either be the nominee or Trump Presidency and then we will have hell to pay and finally well wise up. Leaked dnc emails cost party chair Debbie Wasserman schultz her job and left some sanders supporters bitter. Disappointed how it all played out now that you know about these emails. Elected officials spent the evening downplaying any rift between the clinton camp and those sanders supporters. People are always angry after primary. Theres winners and losers and unfortunately for them their candidate didnt win. Its a family squabble. Family squabble, sister, broth brother, but at the end of the day well come together. When protesters tried to break through the security perimeter at at t station at broad and patison monday evening, septa and Philadelphia Police shut the move down peacefully. Its intelligence much its predicting where the problems might arise and having enough resources there prevent problems. I mean the biggest one is the threat of terrorism and the other one is, um, displeasure and social unrest with both government and police. Buses came in and just for safety we removed them and anybody that has department indication will be written up and release. Reporter protesters toll police in advance they wanted to be arrested. Instead they were simply removed from the area near the security per perimeter. Other than trying to push passed the bike officers, they werent violent or anything like that. The goal is to have no arrests. No arrests and no one hurt. Thats always it. Reporter those 53 people were given citations and released. Chief nestle tolls tells us the public has been a big help about suspicious packages on the rail lines and at bus stops so far none of them have proven to be anything of any danger but he wanted to thank the public tonight. Little more than 35,000 people are without power around the region. The water came down so fast and furious flooding streets and cars, even septa buses got stuck. Take look at this video from bensalem earlier tonight. We dont know how many people were on the bus but the good news is no injuries were repor reported. The gunman rang out club blu in fort myers around 12 30 this morning just as the police was closing. Nightclub was holding a Swimsuit Party for teenagers. School staff say he was a star on high schools basketball te team. Im really sad for our community today. This was a good kid that we lost. This Community Needs to come together. Delegates from across the nation have gather here for the first night of the Democratic National convention, ton night city officials removed the Mississippi State flag from a light post in south philadelphia. The move came after dozens of protesters refused to move off the street calling the state emblem offensive. Empty flagpole at broad and passyunk about 50 Bernie Sanders marchers spurred the change. They said the confederate em women on the flag is offensive won not get off the street until it was gone. Commissioner richard ross stood alongside of protesters and emphasized the important of Police Protester cooperation and unity. Its important that we convey what our position is going to be, that we met with a lot of these folks before, and managed everybodys expectations theirs and ours and we are going to be out here to continue we said well be in soft clothes were in soft clothes. Thats why were doing that. Commissioner ross also said he wants other Police Officers to know if theyre out there marching with protesters hell do it as well. Im not sure if this is what she wanted. Thousands of protesters left city hall today on their way to the Wells Fargo Center tonight where they tried to get within ear shot of some of those delegates.
