Reporter well, we do begin tonight with some good news. Police tell us this officer is expected to be okay. He should be released from the hospital tonight. In the meantime they are still looking for that driver who they say stopped for a moment then kept going. I was standing in my driveway, the officer was crossing the street right here, and i heard a big loud bam and thud. Reporter Jennifer Rice says she was there when witness paper Township Police officer was hit by a car that kept going. It happened just before 6 00 this evening on the 1900 block of polaski drive near north wales road. The officer respond to do her call for help with a stray dog roaming the neighborhood. Well waiting for the dog the officer decided to let the dog lead him to see if it would lead him home. Reporter she says thats when someone hit the officer. All i saw was the officer stagger across to the driveway across the street and fall down, and they kept going. Reporter whitpain Township Police confirmed the officer was on a call for service but did not go into detail. They say he suffered an injury to his left leg. Officer trying to save a stray dog. Reporter and police say they are looking for a small black sedan with tinder windows that is the car they say hit the officer. The buses, subways and trollies came to a screeching halt early Tuesday Morning across philadelphia and they have not moved since. So far, for three days thousands of people across our area scrambling and waiting to get where they need to go. Its been a day after day of long lines for trains and gridlock in some of the busiest parts of the city. For days now Chris Oconnell has had his finger on the pulse of talks between september tan the Union Representing thousands of workers. Chris, bottom line, still no deal, right . Reporter i wish i had better news, lucy. Day number three of the septa transit strike. Now pushing to a day four. No word over the past 10 hours from negotiators who are here with the septa officials and the Transit Union workers. They are both here literally at the the bargaining table as we speak according to a source but right now theres no end in sight. For the third night septa transit workers walked the picket lines as a fight over pay and pensions continue. Striking workers say they sympathize with frustrated commuters. We as union do apologize for the unconvenience of the riding public. You know, because we dont want to do this. Septa just forced our hasnt. Reporter while the strike continues, so does commuter chaos across the city. This is horrible. Taking me 40 minute just to get the kids to school and around in traffic and just its just really bad. Traffic is seems like its double the traffic these days. Reporter they are late for work, missing doctors appointments and 400,000 similar stories of how the strike is affecting them. Im about to take 25 minute walk to my car. Because i usually drive to a train station but the regional rails have been so crazy its better to park somewhere and just walk. Reporter they traded their buses for skateboards. Their trollies or cars. And bikes seem to dominate the city streetscape. How have you been dealing with all of this. Todays announcement concludes the fiveyear investigation into how the university handled complaints about former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. The depth says penn state officials ignored their duties under the cleary act. It requires colleges and universities to report campus crimes and warn people about any threats to their safe team this is the largest fine under the act. Drinking water in the spotlight and parents in one Camden County town have a lot of questions for school officials. Theyre concerned after lead turned up in the water of five schools. The superintendent of cherry hill schools posted a letter on the districts website saying that heart, johnson, mann, sharp and woodcrest Elementary Schools testified positive for above levels of lead. The food preparation and drinking areas were among the spots where lead was found. The district is already working to try and fix the problems but many parents told us they wouldnt how long the issue has been going on. It is concerning cause my daughter oldest daughter has been here for a few years and went to middle school. My youngest is still here, and i think they should have been on ton of this a long time. We pay a lot in real estate taxes for the school board and i think that they shall have been testing this a little bit more frequently. The testing is part statewide program. Uniformed Pennsylvania State police said investigators with the state attorney General Office raided the field works llc office in philadelphia thursday evening looking for evidence of Voter Registration fraud. Search warrant for the raid shows investigators were looking for among other things templates that could be used to construct fraudulent Voter Registration forms. Anything to say at all any comments about the kind of work you do here. I have no comment. Several people left the field works office after spending time with investigators inside. They had no comment. Republican Delaware County congressman pat meehan was talking. This is about protecting the integrity of Voter Registration system. Reporter he joined gop officials thursday afternoon to blast field works which they say flooded the election offices in delco with bogus Voter Registration forms. Last friday feel works office in norwood was raided based on a search warrant identical to the new one. That warrant also seeks evidence of at a information or bonuses related to the quantity of Voter Registration forms completed. So its not clear whether investigators are probing whether field works was trying to deceive Election Officials or whether field works employees were trying to deceive the company. This is registration fraud. Is it voter fraud . Thats to be determined. Well see what happens on leck day. Reporter we sure will. At the moment at least the investigation on going. Field work has not been charged with any crime. The company did not respond to our emailed request for statement tonight the. After last week pogging raid they released a statement saying they would fully cooperate with any investigation. Look its important to note here that these bogus registration forms that were discovered were for first time voters apparently and that means those folks would have had to have an identification with them to actually cast ballot. So even if the bogus forms were brought to the polling place its not at all clear they can have actually resulted in fraudulent vote due to the sensitive nature of this case were told to expect a statement from the Pennsylvania Attorney general tomorrow morning to hopefully add further clarification as to the nature of this investigation. Prosecutors say two former staffers for Chris Christie caused traffic jams on the George Washington bridge all because of political retaliati retaliation. Prosecutors in new jersey say they have caught some members of a big drug ring. Among those arrested one of the biggest cocaine and heroin suppliers in our area. All of this stems from what investigators call operation inferno. It was a sevenmonth investigation by state and local officials. Prosecutors say it culminated in charges against 15 members of a major drug ring that supplied cocaine and heroin in camden and throughout north philadelphia. They say they also caught the ringleader Fernando Rivera diaz. Were stopping literally thousands of heroin doses from reaching users across the region each week and theres no question that as a result of this operation lives will be saved. Investigators say rivera diaz rang the ring from puerto rico ag office deceased cocaine and heroin worth 2 million on the street.
