The biggest snowstorm of the season is just about here. Lets take live look at camelback mountains in the poconos. That is some fake snow. At least stuff that machines make but crews up there will be able to give those machines a break tonight. The winter storm heading this way expected to dump plenty of snow across the Delaware Valley and we just learned that all philadelphia public and arch diocesan schools are closed tomorrow. Our fox 29 crews are covering this major storm from every angle. Chris oconnell is life talking to folks who are get, ready for what Mother Nature is about to dish out. But we begin with kathy orr. Kathy, youve been tracking this thing nonstop. Weve been talking about it for days now and here it is the main event after record warmth everywhere across the Delaware Valley today, we are watching the snow moving in to cleveland and heading toward central pa. The center of the storm is to the south. We can see showers and thunderstorms associated with it very powerful and dynamic storm. Area of low pressure will move off the coast and pull back allotted of moisture. It is to the south of us and once it moves toward the northeast, well get that colder air wrapping around it. This storm is going to intensify its not going to bomb out as we say but the pressure is going to fall so rapidly that it is going to intensify and create enormous amount of lift and thats why this snow is going to stick. Winter storm warning in effect for most of the region but some changes now with new information coming in to the weather center. Right now we have Cumberland County and advisory the same for kent county, delaware, for lighter accumulation with more mixing going on in those locations. Now, this is how were going to be seeing it play out between 5 00 a. M. And 10 00 a. M. A lot of lift in the atmosphere thats when the heaviest snow will occur. One to 2inches an hour possible with the storm. Poor visibility in some spots. Some periods of whiteout conditions and the possibility of thundersnow during that morning rush. It starts between 1 00 a. M. And 4 00 a. M. Lehigh valley starts off as snow. Philadelphia it starts off as rain and sleet and changes to snow heaviest between foveal am and 9 00 a. M. And then it moves out from west to east between 11 00 and 2 00 p. M. As we go hour by hour you can see the rain in philadelphia by 2 00 a. M. But snow in the Lehigh Valley. By about 4 00 a. M. The transition along the i95 corridor from sleet to snow and then by 7 00 oclock most of usying the snow but look, where we have the advisory now, more mixing going on during that morning rush. As far as accumulatio accumulati tweaked them slightly four to eight in the philadelphia area. With a higher accumulation through Lehigh Valley in the poconos. One to four in this advisory area and coating to two through south jersey not expecting much of anything in southern delaware. Continue to look at the models with more information coming in. Police say a ruthless attack in the middle of the afternoon by these three men left a man unconscious. He was just walking down the street this attack completely unprovoke. Reporter iain, police are saying this was an unprovoked ran dam attack on 55yearold man who was simply walking down the street when he was sucker punched from behind, knocked to the ground and left unconscious. Lawrence sullivan and horse lamont were out for a ride on lehigh avenue near 24th street wednesday night close to the spot where police say a 55yearold man was knocked unconscious sunday afternoon. By these three punks for absolutely no reason. I walk down here every day, you know what i mean . Reporter according to detectives the victim was crossing 24th street at lehigh around 1 50 sunday afternoon. When the three came up from behind him, one delivered a knockout punch, police say it was a random attack. It is shock and sadness tonight after a popular hockey player died not long after leaving the ice in chestnut hill. 18yearold nick bond left the ice during a hockey game at the Wissahickon Skating Club on sunday complaining of a headache. On monday, he died. Team Officials Say nick collapsed and was taken to the hospital where doctors performed surgery to relieve pressure on his brain but he never recovered. The medical Examiners Office says nick died of complications from Blunt Force Head Trauma but parents are alarmed because coaches say they never saw nick take a hit in the game.
