I dont recall. Williams did remember being asked to wear a wire to record a conversation with the governor. Williams said he stopped the conversation right there and called his lawyer. He said he gave the mcdonnells 10,065,000 in loans and gifts so that 165,000 in loans and gifts so that the governor would have the state support his product. The first lady governor maureenmcdonnell. You said governor. Im excited with what hes done with
Star Scientific
and really thrilled to be here in your state. Reporter
Maureen Mcdonnells
defense team said
Jonnie Williams
played her taking advantage of her troubled marriage to the governor. Defense attorneys say 1,200 texts and phone calls between the two prove they had a close relationship, driving home that point this email from mrs. Mcdonnell to
Jonnie Williams
right after that rthquake. She said, i just felt the earth move and i wasnt having sex. Jonnie williams said he didnt recall that message but thought it was funny. Governor mcdonnell said he considered williams a very good friend. Ive got tremendous lawyers and i think crossexamination is important and well see how the truth comes out today. Reporter are you looking forward to taking a stand, governor . Yes. Reporter williams is back on the stand monday morning for week two in this corruption trial. In richmond peggy fox, wusa9. A lot of grist for the mill and stuff for us to talk about tonight. White collar criminal defense attorney barack cohen is back with us. Lets get back with that email i felt the earth move and i wasnt having sex, does that show something to the jury about the nature of their relationship . It sure does. The defense has argued from the get go that all this is about
Jonnie Williams
and
Maureen Mcdonnell
and how she viewed her relationship to him. This had nothing to do with the governor and that email really chips away at williams testimony when the prosecution had him up. Theres also the matter of the
Text Messages
between the two. At least one day they had some overnight messages. Jonnie williams said he does not remember those messages which is interesting in light of the other things he doesnt remember. It seems like he does not remember a lot and the defense is doing a lot job chipping away at what the prosecution was able to get out of williams. Upon direct williams was saying a lot of things for the prosecution that really seemed to help the governments case. Now hes not remembering very much talking to the defense. It was a general sense yesterday this guy was a great witness, so smooth and articulate. Has that been chipped away a bit now . I think it has been. This really goes to the power of crossexamination in the hands of skillful lawyers, although to kind of bring this home, if governor mcdonnell testifies, the prosecution will have a shot at him. A lot of the case around the defense seems to be saying it wasnt the governor. It was his wife, always the wife. That made some progress today as well when we found out williams says hey, mcdonnell didnt know about the rolex. He didnt know where the car came from. He didnt ask to use the
Vacation Home
or the plane. Thats exactly right. I was here a few days ago and said if theres no conspiracy, theres really no case against the mcdonnells as least as far as bribery charges and if they cant show governor mcdonnell knew about these gifts coming from
Jonnie Williams
, if the prosecution cant show he was in cahoots with his wife, theres no bribery case here. Is it significant we found out also today the governor turned down a plea deal . He could have pled guilty to a charge and
Maureen Mcdonnell
would have had no charges at all . The defense can play up and say were here telling the truth and, of course, we werent going to accept a plea deal because we knew the governor and
Maureen Mcdonnell
were innocent. They can make a point with that. Thank you, sir. Were having an interesting time talking about this case. Indeed. Weve got three or four more weeks to go. Only on 9 tonight more trouble in a sterling home thats already seen plenty of problems. Police arrested a teenager for child porn in a house where another teen was shot to death just a year ago. Bruce leshan brings us the story. Reporter the latest incident in the erling home, the morning arrest of 19year old

led from the house by police in handcuffs and later charged with seven counts of felony possession of child pornography. I dont know what hes capable of or that family is capable of. Reporter shawn gordley says the detention of his neighbor comes as no surprise to him. Just over a year ago gordleys 16yearold son caleb apparently tipsy and confused stumbled through the neighbors back window in the middle of the night. Looks just the same. So he went in thinking it was his house. Reporter the neighbor fired three shots killing the teenager. Police never charged the homeowner with any crime. My son who was absolutely unarmed showing no sign of immigration was shot in the back. I wouldnt have shot anybody in the back. Reporter gordley says that flores, the teenager detained now in the child porn investigation, is a bit of a recluse. I dont know what kind of culture is being brooded in that house, but its one that i no longer want to be associated with. Reporter so youre leaving . Im leaving. Im moving next week. Reporter he cannot bear looking any more at the house where his some died. Im afraid for my daughter. What if she is coming home one night out front in the middle of the night . Not like james brown, but kind of bopping moving kind of like what we do in dodging showers maybe. Yes. Well be dodging showers. Lets see if i can clearly state this for mr. Mcginty. You have to dance around some showers. Tonights not bad. You want to grill out, you can. Temperatures, august 1 only 80, relative humidity only 54 , thats a deal, believe me. Heres the radar. Over the past couple hours this is the loop. You can see the activity has begun to move off to the north and east away from us. The heaviest activity by far and away was in
Southern Maryland<\/a> and east of i95 which will be the focus again tomorrow morning. We get these little disturbances that roll through and have a little time in between them to do some stuff outside. This is all light. Remember, about an hour ago it activity. Its all green from clinton to accokeek. This will drift northward, but nothing heavy. It will weaken farther toward alexandria and silver hill. It could sprinkle at nats stadium, but by the time the game starts i think it will be fine. So we have to keep an isolated shower in tonight, but the activity develops again late tonight and tomorrow morning. We have morning storms, heaviest east of i95. So get ready,

Futurecast, 5 00 in the morning, theres that little swath of moisture, the heaviest activity in
Southern Maryland<\/a> and the northern neck. By 8 00 it moves away. Youll be able to do some stuff outside. 9 30 still clouds, a couple sprinkles popping up. If youre jogging, its refreshing. Temps are in the 70s. By 4 00 a couple showers here and there popping up, especially in the afternoon. The focus shifts to the west around i81 corridor and by 6 p. M. Maybe a shower gaithersburg, leesburg to manassas, all light activity. Then they begin to push off to the mountains going nighttime hours saturday. Again saturday night i think youll be able to have that cookout without any worries. So day planner, this is a little more ominous than it is, 69 at 9 00, 70 at 11 00, a little sun finally by 1 p. M.
