All right. We can chat back and forth while hes walking. Reporter so if we didnt know where chi was and were concerned about him, we could watch our phone and make sure he gets to his destination on time . Absolutely. If we had any concerns, we could dial 91 undirectly or text back and forth to 911 directly or text back and forth to make sure he was getting there safely. Ive seen some of my friends use the safe walk feature where you can watch your friend walking home and there was a recent incident at georgetown where someone actually took a video clip and sent it to the Georgetown UniversityPolice Department and the criminal was caught. For some great weather this weekend, first alert chief meteorologist topper shutt joins us now from the weather terrace with more we can expect, light entering the weekend this way, top. As gloomy as yesterday was, its spectacular this evening. A lot of folks going to the High School Football game. Were looking at temperatures mid60s to mid70s, pretty much across the board. So cool enough for the players and mild enough for the spectators, 65 in the 4th quarter, starting out at 76. Remember we got all kinds of highlights here at 11 00 on wusa9. Evening planner, 75 at about 6 00, 68 at about 8 00 and even by 10 00 still fairly comfortable, temperatures in the mid60s. Those are downtown temps, a little cooler in the burbs. By tomorrow morning its 60 down town but 50s in the burbs, but notice theres not a cloud on this map, okay . By 10 00 69 downtown and mid 60s in the suburbs. Well come back, take you through the day and let you know if it lasts right through sunday. We told you last night about the wusa9 usa today poll on whether the redskins should change their name. 65 of those polled said leave that name alone. 31 said the names got to go, but despite that bruce leshan reports some Marketing Pros think the team is going to have to change the name at some point and that they ought to do is soon. I was surprised when i saw results last night on the news. Reporter kenny freed has spent a professional career as the go to guy counseling businesses when theyre buried in controversy and washington is a business struggling on the field and in the publics perception. 65 of fans may not want the team to change its name, but that leaves almost 1 3 who say it has got to go. I think after watching the game last night people are going to be angry and it could flip. It could be the other way around. Reporter that more people want to change it. Yes. Reporter more than half the people we surveyed say the name is sometimes or always offensive. Some native americans say protecting the rights of a minority really should not be put to a vote. We have a right like everyone else to equality, a right to respect and we should have a right to controlling our own image. Reporter that should not be up to a vote. That should not be up to the vote of people that are not impacted by it. Were ed ohara, a hotshot sports branding consulting who helped the Washington Wizards change their name from the washington bullets says young people gen y and gen z tend to be more inclusive than older fans. He thinks the team should change its name, but there are still lots of young fans who feel differently and have put it in writing. We took them to training camp. Dan snyder bought 15 from us. Reporter snyders pr guy says the team has known for a long while that a super majority of americans dont want to change. We agree with them he says and look forward to playing next weeks game. The thursday night debacle clearly has not changed the teams perspective. Bruce leshan, wusa9. Public opinion seems to be shifting rapidly on the name. Support has dropped from 89 in the 1992 Washington Post poll to 83 in an Online Associated press survey earlier this year to 65 in our poll. And then we have the game itself. The new york giants as we know served up a 4514 beatdown against the redskins last night, washington 13 sitting in last place in the nfl east. We are just Getting Started on wusa9 news at 5 00. Trending now a swim coach doles out a bizarre punishment against his team. Well talk about that and other trending topics at 5 30. After the break more countries are joining in to help take down isis. Im going to talk to face the dropping off, working hard. And if theres a problem, they dont blame others. They try to solve it. Thats also the story of this virginian. After working his way through college, mark warner started two businesses, failed at each. He didnt blame anyone else, he tried again. And that Company Became nextel. As our governor, he brought democrats and republicans together, to turn a six billion dollar defecit into a surplus. And when we sent him here, this senator chose not to shout, but rather to work with republicans, to bring maufacturing and tech jobs back to virginia. To improve veterans healthcare, and find a bipartisan solution to cut the national debt, even if it means taking on his own party. Whether youre starting a business, leading a state, or making everyone has the same fair shot i had, i know you get a lot more done, when you work together. Denmark and the netherlands are joining the antiterror effort and the British Parliament voted earlier today to launch airstrikes in iraq but not syria. 10 more targets in syria were attacked today and leaders across the country are downplaying comments from the iraqi Prime Minister that isis agents are planning to attack subways. Joining us now is face the nation host bob schieffer. Hey, jan. What do you make of the British Parliament basically going halfway with us and only approving airstrikes in iraq and not syria . Well, i think the fact that theyre approving airstrikes is certainly a step in the right direction. This is a rather remarkable coalition that the president has put together where you have arab countries who are sending aircraft into this battle. I think that part is very important, but more and more youre seeing country after country falling in behind the United States and the president s leadership here. Its as if those horrible pictures that we saw in recent weeks on television really brought home to people what a serious threat there is to everyone. This is the week that will be remembered as the turning point i think in all of this. When the president went before the United Nations and said look, these are people you cant negotiate with. The only thing they understand is force. That was very, very different from what weve been hearing coming out of washington in recent weeks. Now the president said it. He launched the airstrikes and we have other countries joining us in this. I think its almost as if everybody kind of at once came to the understanding these people are really dangerous and they really pose a threat to all of us. The iraqi Prime Minister said that isis agents are planning to attack subways, not only in europe, but also here in the United States, but i guess leaders in d. C. And across the country are kind of downplaying those comments. Why . Well, i think they dont know what to make of them. I think it took everybody by surprise. Certainly i cant find anybody here in washington having anything to do with Intelligence Matters that knows anything about anything like this and that seems to be what others are finding out as well. Why the Prime Minister i think the big question here is why did i just sort of decide to unload this because nobody seems to know what hes talking about and lets hope in this case he doesnt know what hes talking about. That would be good news. Always great to see you. Thanks, jan. See you on sunday. The only station with weather alert days, wusa9 first alert weather. Its going to be some good weather.
