Just sort of between the bw parkway and route 50 here in Landover Hills. Crews are on the scene dealing with a problem here. I dont think its affecting annapolis road but a lot to look at here early this morning if you were planning to head over to the mcdonalds. Well keep you posted on this situation. There are no problems to report whether on the outer loop through Silver Spring or south side of town toward springfield and annandale youre in good shape. It happened just after 5 00 this morning. We know that one person was transported to the hospital, to the Trauma Center with nonlife threatening injuries which means he should be okay. Nikki burdine joins us here in the studio with more on what this means and what is happening next. Reporter the court found the ban violated the United States constitution, a big victory for Marriage Equality supporters in virginia. The panel of u. S. Court of appeals ruled 21 that samesex couples do have the right to marry but not everyone was happy to the ruling arguing to enforce the ban on samesex marriage judge palm niemeyer said failing to define marriage as a union between a man and woman would allow everyone to marry like fatherdaughter arguing that a majority of virginians back Marriage Equality. A plaintiff in the lawsuit against the state spoke after the decision was made from richmond. As a mom im so proud that virginia, our home state, has recognized that we are just like everyone else who desires to be married. We thank judges niemeyer, gregory and floyd for hearing our case and rendering their decision on our behalf. Reporter the state of virginia does not have to start handing out marriage licenses just yet. The ban will not be lifted for 21 days unless it is appealed. Opening statements in the corruption trial of former Virginia Governor Bob Mcdonnell and his wife, Maureen Mcdonnell are scheduled to begin today. Yesterday the couple arrived separately at a courthouse in richmond. The mcdonnells are accused of accepting more than 165,000 in gifts and loans from the ceo after Dietary Supplements company in exchange for helping to promote his products.
