1/30/21 A transient with a history of vandalism faces charges that he caused thousands of dollars in damage to a building on the University of Iowa campus. According to UI Police, 45-year-old Michael Dacunos was seen leaving the third floor of the Psychological and Brain Sciences Building on Iowa Avenue after a window was smashed with a side table just after 9:30 Friday morning. Damage is estimated at $2,000. Dacunos later admitted to being inside the building at the time of the incident, and witnesses placed him at the scene. Dacunos was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
