TROY, N.Y. â The city of Troy is committing to strengthening the city's water infrastructure connections for both the short and long term. Mayor Patrick Madden gathered with city, county, and state officials to break ground on the major water infrastructure project to preserve the reliability of the cityâs water infrastructure network for at least the next 200 years. The groundbreaking set forth phase 1 of a multi-year effort to replace vital water transmission lines that connect the Cityâs Tomhannock Reservoir to the Water Treatment Plant. - Advertisement - The ceremony coincided with the 55th anniversary of the completion of the cityâs Water Treatment Plant on May 16, 1966. Then-New York Gov. Nelson Rockefeller attended and spoke at the event, and officially dedicated the facility.
