TSB on Poplars Avenue in Orford was permanently shut on Wednesday, May 19. Residents in the area had previously set up a campaign with the aim of reversing the decision to shut the bank, which has been described as a ‘mainstay’. A spokesman for the National Federation of Sub Postmasters said: “This will doubtless be disappointing to TSB’s customers. “However, alternative banking provision is available to local residents at Post Office branches nearby. “Each of these branches offers banking services – including deposits, free cash withdrawals and balance checks, as well as offering face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, foreign currency, travel insurance and, of course, postal services.
