Naturally, the measure has drawn a range of views. Sen. Gustavo Rivera, the bill's sponsor in the state Senate, points to the cost reductions for families who grapple with the cost of insurance. But for the business community, the tax increases associated with the move would be potentially devastating to operate in New York. Lev Ginsburg of the Business Council of New York pointed to the public insurance system already having some aspects of private care.
