We've just received awful news from the Connecticut State Police - Troop A about a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on I-84 in Southbury. According to the report, two people were struck by a vehicle, and it unfortunately took the life of a local Wolcott resident. The accident happened yesterday, Thursday February 18 at 5:52 PM. Initially, two vehicles were involved in a motor vehicle accident on I-84 Westbound just prior to the exit 15 off-ramp in Southbury. The two people that were involved in the initial accident, Cynthia Geary Northrop, of Georges Hill Rd in Southbury and Michael Canby, of Spindle Hill Rd in Wolcott, were standing outside of their vehicles. Northrop's 2010 Nissan Sentra was disabled in the left lane of the highway from the initial accident.
