U of M President Mark Schlissel has issued a statement saying they have secured 7,500 doses of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine and intend to administer it to students at Michigan Stadium and several pop-up clinics. Michigan Medicine’s Chief Health Officer, Dr. Preeti Malani, says U of M is prepared to ramp up vaccination efforts further, if it can get more doses. “We’re hoping that next week’s vaccinations are the beginning, and that there’ll be even more to come in the coming weeks,” Dr. Malani says. Dr. Malani says U of M went with the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine to make it easier for students who may be preparing to leave as the school year winds down.
