'Huge step forward': First Moderna COVID-19 vaccines given out

The first round of a Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine is being given out in Massachusetts.
The newly authorized vaccine was given Monday to older, at-risk individuals and medical workers in the hardest hit areas of the state. Sign up for our Newsletters
Massachusetts ordered its first 120,000 doses to be shipped to more than 200 health care facilities.
For Boston Medical Center, that means its COVID-19 staff can now be fully vaccinated in the next two weeks.
“This is a huge step forward. We are just not quite there yet, but very excited, but very excited for this amount of vaccine to be at the door,” said David Twitchell, chief pharmacy officer at Boston Medical Center.
