Times Telegram There has been confusion about some statements from the new owners of the Remington Arms operation in Ilion, according to the United Mine Workers of America International, but more negotiations are scheduled with Roundhill Group Inc. UMWA President Cecil E. Roberts issued a statement in response to reports that Richmond Italia, of Roundhill, had said the Ilion plant would not reopen if the new company is found to be responsible for previous obligations under the union contract. The statement was confusing to the union and its members, according to Roberts. “We have reached a tentative agreement with the Remington Outdoor Company (old Remington), on issues where we could agree, regarding the outstanding employee legacies of that company. What we have not agreed upon, the bankruptcy court will decide. Roundhill knows this, and knows that the UMWA has not and does not consider Roundhill liable for those legacy issues.
