Local residents took to social media this past weekend with concerns about unanswered 911 calls in Tallahassee. Among them were questions and claims such as, "Are there no 9-1-1 services after 6PM?" and "I had that happen to me once when I saw a car accident in the middle of the day." The Consolidated Dispatch Agency — which has come under fire before for staffing, retention and training issues — is the joint agency that takes all 911 calls in Leon County and Tallahassee. Jeanine Gaudin, the director of the agency, said the CDA needs to hire 30 more people to be fully staffed. She said the staff shortage is a possible cause for longer-than-usual wait times.
