UPDATE 3-Argentina inflation edges back from March peak, overshoots forecasts Reuters 5/13/2021 Popular Searches By Hernan Nessi BUENOS AIRES, May 13 (Reuters) - Argentina's inflation cooled slightly to 4.1% in April, the government said on Thursday, edging back off a peak the month before but overshooting analysts' forecasts as the South American country battles to rein in rising prices. The monthly rise was slower than an eye-watering 4.8% jump in March, which had been the highest since 2019, but was above even the highest prediction from analysts polled by Reuters that had centered around a 3.8% monthly increase. Rolling 12-month inflation was clocked at 46.3% in the month with prices up 17.6% in the first four months of the year, according to the data from the official INDEC statistics agency.
