Vacant Moorhead building to be leased for temporary homeless shelter

Vacant Moorhead building leased for temporary winter homeless shelter.
FARGO (KFGO) – The pandemic has had a serious impact on homeless shelters that already have issues finding room for those in need. That’s resulted in more concerns finding additional space due to increased spacing needs and extra precautions for group living.
Fargo City Planning Director Nicole Crutchfield has been working with community partners since July to come up with a plan for this winter. The answer is to rent a vacant building at 1015 30th Avenue south in Moorhead for a 45-bed shelter.
Fargo City Commissioners have approved using up to $450,000 in federal funds to lease the building. Crutchfield says the funding will also be provided by the State of Minnesota and other contributions will be sought from other sources.
