A GROUP of trespassers who trashed a church - causing thousands of pounds worth of damage - have made their community feel 'unsafe'. St Matthew's Church in Highfield Road, Barrow was recently targeted by vandals, smashing windows, doors and toilets in an overnight rampage. The church officially closed its doors in 2016, with plans currently in the works to transform the vacant building into a community hall and cafe. Since its closure, the church has been a target for antisocial behaviour, with police confirming that the building is an 'area of concern'. A spokesman said: "The location has been identified by the local focus team meetings as an area of concern and we are working with our partners to resolve the issues."
