Bendricks Beach (Picture: Neil Latham) where the trace fossil (picture: Archaeology Cymru) was discovered VANDALS armed with sledgehammers and crowbars have targeted a Barry beach. Recently Lily Wilder, aged four, discovered a dinosaur footprint – also known as a trace fossil – at Bendricks Beach in Barry. Described as the best preserved trace fossil ever discovered in South Wales permission was sought from the landowners and Natural Resources Wales for the footprint to be removed and used for educational purposes. Unfortunately, the area – which is protected due to being a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) – has now been impacted by some people trying to remove rocks, leading to damage to several parts of the site.
