VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) — Disability service provider VARC Inc. plans to resurrect The Cheese Corner, a popular Viroqua-based deli that closed in March. The family-owned deli with the charming mouse, Cole B. Jack, as mascot had operated in Viroqua for nearly four decades until its abrupt closing. Jack B. Cole Owner Tina Tryggestad broke the good news Friday morning on the business’ Facebook page, saying, “The Cheese Corner will live on! The great people of VARC will be putting some much-needed TLC into our favorite building on the corner.” VARC, the acronym for Vernon Area Rehabilitation Center, announced later in the day that it will buy the Cheese Corner on Feb. 11 and reopen it during the summer “in the spirit of ultimate comebacks.”
