Read Article PORTLAND — Veterans Count Maine has a tall task for thrill seekers. Adrenaline enthusiasts are invited June 19 to rappel down the side of the 1 Canal Plaza building to benefit Maine’s heroes — veterans, service members and their families. Each participant will take fundraising to new heights, raising a minimum of $1,000 in donations for Veterans Count Maine to be eligible to rappel. “Participating in this event and rappelling down a building will take a great deal of courage,” said event chairman and Veterans Count Portland Chapter Secretary, Todd Crawford, according to a news release from Veterans Count Maine. “This is obviously something you can’t do every day, and we’re excited to bring such a dynamic event to Portland. The bravery it will take to rappel down the building is reminiscent of the courage shown by our military when they serve our country.”
