Vic opposition objects to Crib Point LNG terminal Save Share The Victorian Liberal opposition has dealt a blow to AGLâs controversial Crib Point LNG import terminal, throwing its weight behind local residents, federal Coalition MP Greg Hunt and Indigenous groups to publicly oppose the $300 million project. Victorian shadow minister for energy Ryan Smith cited âseriousâ environmental concerns with âthe proposed route which seem not to be adequately addressedâ by the independent panel assessing the project, located on the Mornington Peninsula, 80 kilometres from Melbourne. AGL rejects this claim. An AGL spokeswoman said the company was âcommitted to following the process the state government deems appropriateâ and if the terminal is approved a final investment decision will be made, taking âinto account the communityâs views and the projected shortage of gas for cooking, heating and businessâ.
