RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - If you’ve seen holiday decorations in your neighborhood nearly two weeks after Christmas Day, you’re not alone. Virginians are keeping up their colorful light displays in honor of healthcare workers.
Businesses, homeowners and communities are encouraged to keep their lights up until Jan. 31 as a way to say “thank you.”
“We know our healthcare workers are tired, but they continue to put others first and care for the sickest patients in our hospitals,” Gov. Ralph Northam said in a Thursday announcement. “In this challenging year, these lights have become for many a sign of normalcy and hope.”
