Washington School Board Approves Summer, Five-Year Building Projects

The Washington School Board approved their five-year facility plan during their January meeting, which features projects at both of the elementary buildings this summer.
Superintendent Willie Stone says this summer they will be repaving the north parking lot at Stewart Elementary, and they will be addressing tuck pointing issues at Stewart and Lincoln elementaries as well. The plan also includes asbestos abatement in two rooms in the district’s buildings each year over the next five years. Stone mentions another project that may take a couple years at Lincoln, “The biggest thing this first year will be getting started with (the) geothermal mechanical system and address unit ventilators and fire alarm system at Lincoln. We have a lot of work at Lincoln this upcoming summer and the mechanical system is basically our HVAC system, and it will help us tremendously with air handling which right now with the pandemic that’s something we need to worry about anyways and that would help us be better with that.”
