8 p.m. update The Washoe County School Board did not make any changes to its mask policy, which now allows those under 10 to go without a mask and mandates it for everyone else, including students and staff who are fully vaccinated. It was a brief discussion and the board discussed possibly allowing staff to wear a face shield if vaccinated, but there were concerns that shields are not as effective and that there is no way to know who is vaccinated. A few board members made comments that to change things now wasn't a good idea after the feedback from the quick decision by the Superintendent Kristen McNeill last week to remove the mask mandate for the district's youngest students.
