Thats less likely later today. The beach erosion will continue as it turns off shore. Otherwise our weather will be fine. Sunshine and a nice warmup. 66 in the suburbs to 70 in new jersey. The Lehigh Valley is at 70 degrees. No sign of fog that we saw earlier in the week. By 11 00, 77 degrees. Well top out in the 80s this afternoon. That includes the jersey shore with partly sunny skies, 80 degrees. A big concern is high tide which, i think bill mentioned, happens between 8 00 and 9 00 along the oceanfront. High tide is a bit later along the back bays. High tide last night, this guy kayaking in the street in North Wildwood. Thats how high the water was. We found a shed even washed away by the rushing water. Yesterday, puerto ricos Public Safety commissioner warned people to evacuate or you are going to die. Were hearing from a bucks county woman who is stuck in puerto rico. Alex mclaughlin from ben saille said she and a salem said she and a friend had a evacuate their hotel and move to another hotel on higher ground. Caller worried about the high winds and if our windows are going to be sustained, if our cars are okay, and when we can get out of here. Alex was supposed to leave puerto rico on friday. Winds at 155 miles an hour with the storm. Not that strong in san juan, puerto rico, but the center is approaching the island now. Its making landfall in puerto rico now. Here you see the eye of the storm. This is a higher resolution satellite. Its going to blank out in a second as it gets closer. Thats okay, we have another one. You see right now there it is making landfall right now in southeastern puerto rico. This is an area of calm within this plamassive storm that is ravaging puerto rico. It is forecast to move across the island. The eye will likely go across san juan as the morning progresses. Moving northwest at ten Miles Per Hour. Its not going to take that long to move across the island. And then it is out to sea. Were monitoring maria and jose which is a weakening storm. Its now just a Tropical Storm, no longer a hurricane. Still spinning and still a problem for the shore and the coastline. Flooding between 8 00 and 9 00. Thats why its under a first alert. Weather will be nice today, nicer than yesterday. Well see sunshine, nice warmup, too. Still summer. Were in the final days of summer. Warming into the 80s in philadelphia. Thats at noontime today. Suburbs are 68 degrees now. Radnor detectives went tinto th dorm rooms at cabrini where the hate language was discovered to bring out evidence. Three times in the past couple of days students discovered the racial slurs like this one with the words go away scribbled on to the doors of dorm rooms targeting africanamerican students. Last night, a packed campus meeting here where the university promised to get to the bottom of this, urging inclusivity on campus and giving students here a chance to vent their frustration. Students say theyre furious but will not allow things like this to happen on their campus. I am outraged by the derogatory comments that were left on the young ladies doors. I just feel as though this is something that needs to be addressed. Were asking the entire cabrini student body and facultiy to give us a hand, as well. Anything they know, any social media images, anything to put this to rest. Reporter take a look at this. To counter all that hate speech, students put up these posters and signs on those same dorm room doors countering the messages of hate with messages of love. Another student rally is expected on campus sometime today. Meantime, Radnor Police asking for tips from the public. They say theyre also stepping up patrols here on campus. The radar actually is out right now in puerto rico. Heavy rain is coming in, and the winds wrapping around that center are at 155 Miles Per Hour. Flight level. A bit lower on the ground, still plenty strong to do tremendous damage to puerto rico. Its a massive storm. So even though this eye is going to pass quickly this morning, the storm will still be ravaging that island, even later this morning. Then tonight, it will finally be pulling away. It will weaken over the coming days. Were going to be watching maria right on through the weekend as it moves off shore and moves up the east coast, staying off shore. Potentially interacting with hose which is still an issue for us. We may not see any rain from jose until next week. Well still see a few clouds blowing through the area, but well get enough sunshine to warm up to 84 degrees this afternoon. The ten day on 10, sunday, nice and warm. Tomorrow, nice and warm, too.
