Really a chilly, chilly start. It makes you feel like its actually the middle of october. These temperatures are going to lead to an afternoon on the cool side. Temperatures will only make their way to the upper 50s and some low 60s. Heres the radar and satellite. Clear picture for us. Thats what helped temperatures plummet. We had cold air surging in from the north, on top of the fact there were no clouds to hold in the previous days heat. Yeah, the temperatures fall completely. Lets track the trend over the next couple of hours here. 7 00 a. M. , were at around 43 degrees. Very close to where we currently are. Look at that, 10 00 a. M. , still in the 40s. Part of an apartment complex in cherriville left in ruins after a fire cherry hill is left in ruins after a fire, and one family says their cat came to the rescue. Matt delucia with more. Reporter it was a chaotic night for residents at the colonial apartments. This is at 38 and Cooper Landing road. Up there is the apartment where it happened. You see that it is burned out there. Fire investigators are in there in the last half hour with some flashlights. Thats where the fire started on the fifth floor and then spread to a balcony and up to the sixth floor. Three apartments in all were damaged because of this. Amazingly, it did not spread beyond that. Most of the firefighters are gone here. This started a little before midnight. One person did have to be rescued and taken to the hospital. Earlier the residents talked about waking up to firefighters and neighbors banging on their doors, warning them to get out. One woman told us her cat started clawing at her face to wake her up. I was asleep, and my cat attacked kept pawing at my face. Hed never done that before. I said, whats going on . When i opened my doors and smelled the smoke, i grabbed the cat, tried to go down the far stairwell, where the fire is. Black smoke came out. I ran the other way, and then i beat on her door because i know she has him in the wheelchair. To get her out. Reporter jamie there said it was pretty terrifying, the experience here. So far, the cherry hill fire chief says they dont know what started the fire. Most of the residents have made their way back inside, hopeful getting muchneeded rest. The woman called police to her house in wilmington yesterday morning. Once inside, officers found both young victims dead in a bathtub. Officers say the woman was caring for the infant and the 5yearold boy but was only the mother of one of them. The devastated Community Held a vigil for the victims. Victory today is mine its one of the most tragic situations that you could think of in life. Police suspect the mother drowned the kids but are awaiting autopsy results. The womans name has not been released. 4 34. In philadelphia, a mother and her adult son are in the hospital after someone shot both of them in feltonville. This was the scene at 4th last night. The gunman fired at least nine shots at the victims before driving off. So far, no arrests. 4 34. A man accused of planting a bomb along a race course at the jersey shore will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. A new york jury convicted ahmadeahmad rahimi yesterday on charges that he planted a pair of bombs in mandela last year. One injure in manhattan last year. One injured more than two dozen people. Hes accused of blowing up a trash can along the route Marine Charity race in seaside heights, new jersey. His attorneys plan to appeal the verdict. Well get to about 59 by 4 00 in the afternoon. Right near 60 for the afternoon hours. Wind speeds, not a problem. Five to ten miles per hour. Sunny in philly, as well. 54 at noon. Near afternoon, low 60s. This will feel very falllike. Temperatures are a little lower than average. Winds from the north at six miles per hour. The north winds continue to spill in cool air. We will only make it to about the upper 50s to around 60 degrees for afternoon highs over parts of south jersey. The afternoon highs will move in over the next handful of days. A warming trend. Police are still searching for the shooter. A teacher was seen on video telling spanishspeaking students to speak american. Nearly 100 teenagers walked out of Cliffside High School yesterday morning. Twitter posted the walkout was to protect their rights to speak and represent culture. One student said she wants an apology for the statement by the teacher. The right to speak spanish if i have the right to speak american. The video was posted on snapchat and other local other social media networks. Students said the teacher had previously confronted classmates for speaking spanish during and in between classes. The School District did not comment on the video. The Deadly Wildfires in Northern California continue to rage. Firefighters say they are making progress. Fires are blamed for the loss of 41 lives and at least 5,700 structures. This is video from a daring escape as two roommates ran from the destruction. The latest death is a firefighter who died after a water truck rolled off the road. A number of people are still missing. We are not talking any clouds, rain, concerns for the next handful of days. We have a frost advisory through the upper suburbs in chester county, montgomery to bucks county, Lehigh Valley to berks, under this advisory. This is what you can expect. Low to mid 30s.
