How Neuadd Maldwyn could look when finished A PLANNING application to convert Neuadd Maldwyn in Welshpool into Extracare accommodation for older people from the area is to be considered next week. The application from ClwydAlyn Housing Association, working in partnership with Powys County Council, is for 66 one and two-bedroomed units, contained within the former council building on Severn Road and within a new building at the rear of the site. The application will be considered by councillors at next Friday's (January, 22) committee meeting of the Planning, Taxi Licensing and Rights of Way Committee. Extra Care schemes provide an independent living option where older people can live in their own self-contained home - with their own 'front door' - while accessing a wide range of communal facilities and access to personal care support packages. Technology Enabled Care - for example 'tele-conferencing' with health partners - will also form a major part of care and support for residents, if the plans are given the go-ahead.
