Juan Hurtado is a 38-year old Wenatchee resident who survived a COVID-19 infection that made its way to his brain. Provided photo WENATCHEE â Juan Hurtado woke up one day in the hospital after three days in a coma with no memory of where he was or about the voices on the phone who said were his parents. He tested positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 13 but that still would not be enough to explain why he suffered seizures or could not recognize his parents' voices. Hurtado is one of 6,909 people in Chelan and Douglas counties to test positive for COVID-19. On Aug. 17, he was one of 18 people hospitalized with the virus. The 38-year-old Stemilt orchard supervisor had a clean bill of health before contracting it. During the long hours of harvest season, he dedicated himself fully to his work without injury or sickness.
